Nice spot with a low-lit, sceney ambiance, large backyard, a wide selection of wines by the bottle, and a not-wide selection of wines by the glass. I live a couple blocks away and I have high hopes for this place but it’s got some things to figure out.
The format is: order at the bar, get a number, delivery to the table. To me this is the worst of all worlds: you get at most half the service but you are expected to tip as if you got all of it (default selection on the tip screen: 20%). If they change one thing this should be it.
The food we ordered ranged from an extremely-good-but-for-$30-it-better-be crab tartine to a pretty-good-but-perplexing mound of pork rillettes sitting next to a scattering of tarallucci. I still have no idea how I was expected to eat rillettes with extruded O-shaped crackers. I’ve never seen rillettes not served with some sort of bread before and I submit there’s a reason for that.
I only tried one wine among the 5 or 6 options by the glass. Maybe some of them are great but I found my choice to be surprisingly disappointing. Can’t win ‘em all, I guess.
But of course they’ve only just opened so I’m sure they’re actively tweaking things and I’m looking forward to coming back in a few weeks to see how it’s...
Read moreWe stumbled here after our first wine bar stop (love birds) and we wish we'd come here first! The bar had about 5 customers seated. No one was sitting in the surrounding table area. The bartender immediately announced the wine offerings upon entering, we got to try them as well. Upon paying, we headed to the out door patio (mind you this was a Thursday evening) a lot higher energy and volume of people, perhaps 6 couples, than the inside, though both environments were lovely! I would definitely go back here. there WAS a rat running around the indoor garden patio area, however we didn't mind and it kind of made it an iconic NY experience. anywho - yes! I'd go back - my one wish is that they would order maybe some New Zealand Sav Blanc, or a little less edgy and brooklynesque wine - (but maybe they're not going for that type of class?) Anyways, I'd highly recommend! We didn't try the food, though it did look delicious. I forget which wine we had but they were all unique...
Read moreUpdate: I hosted my 30th birthday party at Plus de Vin and would do it over again! They have a covered back garden area with heaters so it was not bad at all in January. This was everything I could have dreamed for my party. We had a server coming in and out the entire time. Lucy was fantastic and very attentive! The patio was able to fit 40 people or so. I will continue to recommend the bread and butter, the best. Carenn (the owner) and her team at the best at PdV (Jan’25)
New little local neighborhood (natural) wine bar. The aesthetic is absolutely beautiful. Neutral and classy. Was our first time going here and will definitely be coming back often. Each just ordered a glass of wine plus the bread and butter and olives but that butter was probably the best homemade butter I’ve ever had. The amount of olives we got in the order was a good amount. Super cute garden in the back. Reminded me of the cocktail bar “Zest” in Seoul. PDV is...
