I’d been meaning to try Pop’s Pizza for weeks. I live just two avenues west, and from the moment I walked in, I knew it was worth the wait. The aroma hits you like a warm embrace—homemade red sauce, oregano, extra virgin olive oil—it’s intoxicating.
Their slice selection is both creative and balanced, with something for every mood.
Here are a few highlights:
• Spicy Veg – cherry tomatoes, jalapeños, caramelized onions, arugula, balsamic glaze, EVOO • Mushroom – fresh mushrooms, ricotta, caramelized onions, arugula, EVOO • Piccante – beef pepperoni, pepper relish, ricotta, hot honey • Burrata – marinara, burrata, basil, hot honey, EVOO, parm
My favorite? The burrata square slice. The crust has that perfect crunch—edge to edge—and the texture stays consistent to the last bite. The imported ingredients “pop”, from the creamy burrata to the hint of basil and honey, and the aromatics while you’re eating make it a full sensory experience. I would happily bathe in their tomato sauce.
The portions are generous too, but there’s zero compromise on their high quality given the larger size. Pricing is more than fair considering the care and ingredients that go into each slice.
The staff are dialed in, and Sal—the owner—is clearly an artisan. You can see the pride and precision on their faces as they prep every order. It’s rare to find that kind of focus at a newer slice shop.
Pop’s has the makings of a classic. Easily my favorite new slice in the city—and probably my next meal.
EDIT: it was my...
