I wish I can add video. Today is for the minimal transactions. In other words I’m only here for evaluation I would not do my physical therapy here because of the most recent experiences. Let’s work from most present to backwards.
I was here a few weeks ago and given objectives to do prior to my appointment when it came to my insurance since I have a primary and secondary. I did everything I was supposed to do. And today I was told of a co-pay. What? I took the steps so I don’t have to pay a co-pay. My insurance was supposed to cover.
Basically the person before with the unpleasant attitude who is new ignored me and gave me a halfway explanation and not covering all bases hence why I have to call my insurance on a Sunday. Again it’s Sunday they are not open. So now I had to go online and create an account and show Proof that I changed my primary care provider.
Guess what as per their procedure I can’t email a screenshot I still have to call in and grab a reference number.
Since we’re speaking present my appointment was at 9:40 the doctor still isn’t in. He is going to be about an hour away pretty soon. And I have to pay a fee if I’m late or a no show!?
This leads to the second event today. Myself and another patient reached at the same time of 9:04 AM. Today supposed to open at 9 AM. This nice heat wave weekend we’re both out in the heat waiting for over 20 minutes.
Let’s work a bit more backwards. I covered this already. Not every patient knows everything or the situation, but all and all they should be listened to. I explained I haven’t been here since January it is now July I’m going to need a reevaluation. I also explained I’ve been trying to call for months speaking to an answering machine. I essentially was brushed off and given excuses. Keep in mind after the j—- of a Representative literally repeated everything I said with quantitive dates she then asked for more experienced representative for help. The end result was everything I had said I need a reevaluation thank you so much Sherlock. Your skills are amazing.
Now let’s take it back a bit more further. The physical therapy is at three out of five. Their upper East side location it might be Westside I cannot remember but it is night and day compared to here on the physical therapy side. It’s an extremely cramped room with 3 to 5 patients at once along with three workers. The MTA seems empty compared to here.
This brings me to my last horrific experience which made me want to leave immediately. The lapses in processes. I had physical therapy in one instance and someone became severely ill she threw up and was brought into that same cramped small room you can hear this lady breathing hard with NO MASK ON why would anyone sensible bring a sick person into a crowded room. Then 5 minutes later- ask to go to the receptionist and grab a mask. Really!?
My last bad experience was that I was still marked as checked in for over 2 hours after my session for physical therapy. This meant the doctor (saw him today…) was asking what’s taking so long while I wait, sleep, then wait some more in the rear waiting room.
To be honest their availability and doctors are great but the failure is within the operations. Literally the one star is because of the doctors. For this I go somewhere else for my PT and just do the dr visits and procedures there. I’ve been mistakenly billed experienced mishap’s and late openings, and procedures. I have a life the biggest mistake is the thought someone who does PT has all the time in the world sits home and is on disability. I guarantee that’s not my case my weekends...
Read moreI'm updating my review from when I first went there a few years ago. At this point I'm completely fed up with this practice and will never be returning after my scheduled appointments. As of today I still don't have Ultrasound results from my last appointment on 7/17. I was also given 2 referrals for an MRI and decided to use Lenox Hill as I could get an appointment sooner so I could know what's going on with me. The practices' next MRI availability was 8.28 - and they would charge an $100 cancellation/no show fee. I figured I could get seen before and not have to worry with them constantly looking to pinch your pockets for $$. I asked the receptionist if I could go to Lenox Hill and she said yes as long as they had pre-authorization forms to bill my insurance. She gave me a sticky note with information to get from Lenox Hill Radiology and to call them back with the info. I thought it was ridiculous that I'm doing their job for them but I obliged anyway, called them and got the info. I called 14th Street back - which in the past 6+ months they no longer answer the phone. So I left a voicemail with the info and also went back in person a week later for a follow up appointment. My follow up appointment was for an annual check up (which also was a nightmare). At checkout I reminded the receptionist to please send my authorization forms to Lenox Hill and gave her the information they needed. She uploaded it into my account and said they'd send it. Since July 17th Lenox Hill Radiology STILL HASN'T RECEIVED THE AUTHORIZATION FORMS. I've messaged my doctor through the portal for assistance, I've left a voicemail and am out of options. I called again yesterday and of course couldn't get an answer and was connected to a voicemail that was full. I called AGAIN! and someone finally answered. She asked for my info and said she's messaging her supervisor to send it over and would call me back when it's done. It's been over 24 hours since that call. I've called Lenox Hill hopeless and hoping there is some sort of work around and they told me this is something that should take 2 minutes tops to do. Soon my referrals for the MRI will expire and I'll have to go through the entire process all over. I personally feel like they're not sending it so that I have to use their MRI services directly so they can bill you. Another issue I have with them now is their cancellation no show/fees which they've made to make as much money off of folks. They now charge $50 dollars but the catch is nobody answers the phone, but they're incredibly quick to call you to let you know you owe. So even if you within the window or way before they don't pickup and will flag you in the system and you'll receive a bill. Then when you go to receive medical care they won't allow you until you pay it. Not sure when no show/cancellation fees precedents a doctors appointment and the ability to be seen but here it does. They also now make you do a multitude of unnecessary exams so that they can bill your insurance. An allergy test, EKG, etc all to give you a bunch of follow ups and to keep coming back. Folks are funneled in and out of there like cattle. It's really unfortunate how quickly this place has gone downhill, and aside from 2-3 good doctors the rest of the place is awful. If you want to be scammed out on money, not receive proper and adequate medical care and take on an extra job to do their jobs than this is the place for you. Id rather go to the DMV than come...
Read moreIf I could give them 0 stars, I would. Based on my experience, this is a terrible facility with horrible administration and I would not recommend going here.
I saw Dr. Sharkey - he was nice and outwardly professional. I was diagnosed with a potential tear and recommended to undergo an MRI. My insurance company ultimately required additional information and requested a peer-to-peer or alternative course of treatment.
What happened next was a complete failure in all respects. I tried calling their office numerous times and they generally would not respond to voicemails. Emails, same. They failed to conduct the peer-to-peer or provide any follow up with the insurance company as required to get my further treatment. I'm on the phone with the insurance company (7/18) and they're saying they have no follow up from the doctors office since 6/22/22. Basically, an entire month of disregard for my injury and avoidance of my calls.
I went to their office on or around the 22nd after a week of non-communication. The staff was rude and dismissive, basically claiming because they have a call service, their actual office could do nothing about the calls. But we spoke in person, I conveyed my concerns, and still nothing happened (despite being told the doctor would do a peer-to-peer that week and they would call me when it occurred, I received no call and apparently it never happened).
If you want to avoid the foregoing, I would recommend not going here.
August update: about 2 days after this review, I received a phone call. The office was appealing my denied MRI. Ultimately the appeal was lost. I saw Dr Sharkey again at the west side location - he was surprised I hadn’t gotten the MRI and wasn’t informed what administrative things were happening. With this in mind, I must say this review is more directed at the admin/staff not the doctors or quality of their opinions/advice. I’ll upgrade from 1 to 2 star only bc things seem to (finally)...
