Pret A Manger — Restaurant in New York

Nov. 7, 2019, about 7:45 a.m. This is a good place with freshly prepared food and generally friendly staff. They also offer "Americano" coffee in 20 ounce cups (the coffee is second only to The District's at Brookfield Place within the building). However, this Pret A Manger may be understaffed (although they appear to have plenty of help). Including this morning, this is the third time that I have been in a line directly behind one other person being assisted at the counter where you pay (there are usually several lines) to only have the employee not only turn her back to attend to some other chores after assisting the gentlemen in front of me, but today the employee even turned her back and moved away from the counter to attend to some other things without a word to me that she would return momentarily. She could not have missed me and the two other people behind me. She did not say a word but continued to attend to other things while at the same time ignoring me. She even came back to the counter to place some additional items on her side under the counter - still without a word (and a look on her face of being bothered and defiance due to the obvious she had several things to do at once. Her look suggested, although she did not look at me directly in the eye, "one can just get into another line"). In the other instances I have referred to herein I was not in a hurry and just joined another line. This morning I had also placed a salad and a breakfast item on the counter while getting my wallet out. In addition to these items I was going to order a pastry and a large Americano coffee because I plan to depart from my office early today, the reason I had decided to pick up lunch too. My total bill would probably have totaled upwards of $15.00. When I turned again the two men behind me were joining other lines, and I noticed the adjacent line was full almost to the door. This was not an isolated incident. I will probably address this with Pret A Manger's management because it was not an isolated event, and had also happened with other employees. I like pret, but I guess the food depends on the location. The staff is nice, but the food not so much. The chicken noodle soup was half full, and the chicken parm wrap was not properly closed or something as first I couldn't open it, and after cutting the carton, the wrap fell apart inside and was stuck...

Tried the Blackened Salmon, Avo & Quinoa Salad with Pret's Simple Vinaigrette and guava chai coconut pot at Pret A Manger, both tasted fresh and flavorful. The salad was light yet satisfying, and the coconut pot had a unique tropical twist. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Great...
