This moniker sums up the restaurant, "The Applebees of the Sky".

This is a very poorly ran establishment, its clear from the host stand, to the wait staff through to upper management, that there are systemic problems that needs to be addressed, and changed at the very top. You can learn a lot from just an observation (no pun intended).

The Good to OK: The view is great, and it stops there. If you must go, just purchase the least expensive observatory option, as you cannot access the restaurant without an observatory ticket- red flag. After purchase you get herded like cattle, and take a great elevator ride! Now, if you want to see how a so-called restaurant is being ran into the ground, go over by the underwhelming high priced cafe ($6 tap water??), no seating, no wifi, then peek over to the restaurant section which is basically connected to the cafe by simple saggy metal partition (tacky) and just see if you'd like to eat there. The answer is 'NO'. You're in New York City ppl there are much better options. If you just want to sit down go to the bar, get a one drink or one appetizer, pull out your phone, go to Google and find a better restaurant.

The Worst: The hostesses lack professionalism and are going through the motions, does it hurt to smile??When you are seated in the 'premium seats', you are actually seated next to a glass partition and far away from the actual windows. There are really no premium seats due to a bad design of the building. All seating is on a latform loft like which make noise levels unacceptable from the lower floor. So never mind, as the noise from the lower level is jarring and provides an uncanny soundtrack while eating. Youll be greeted by servers with old uniforms straight out of the 80's Burger King vests and all. Dont be fooled by the high prices or observation ticket barrier to entry, this is NOT a date night, engagement or special place, its just a tourist trap high in the sky with below average service and commissary type food dressed up as the allusion of premium.

The lunch and dinner menu is very limited and basic. Which is surprising for having a celebrity chef, so whats the point if the food isn't better than an Applebees? Not that Applebees is bad restaurant but, it is, what it is. This place is trying to be something that its not. Once you step inside, its a major letdown and doesn't live up to any expectations. I've visited a number of times when family has come into town and pre-pandemic and have given it many chances, back then it was serviceable, slightly better which made it average. The food quality now is basically the same with a few changing seasonal options which are honestly hit or miss but none are actually worth the price. The seating and decor has been the same since opening; so with cloth seats over the years, meh, you get the picture. Personally, I can do without covid and bedbugs. The decor itself is outdated and long in the tooth - which adds to the Applebees, old airport lounge type of atmosphere, which is a shame given the view.

Theres a 20% auto gratuity which means the staff is incentivized to provide really subpar service or their version of service paint by numbers. I waited extremely long for my food and my dessert lava cake came out cold as a brick?! Servers didn't seem attentive nor pleasant but more concerned with breaks. No one actually seems happy to be there, you can tell when staff enjoys their job or they're just there for a check. The lack of effort and care shows in everything. Occasionally you may get a happy waiter, the short guy with the mask, but that schtick is getting old too.

Overall this is a poorly ran tourist attraction. Prepare for higher than normal pricing for subpar service, commissary food quality dressed up with no ambience, no culture or je ne sais quoi. This place has no identity and whomever is at the top, the GM running this place is either clueless or just collecting a check - good...

I called before going to the restaurant and I asked if they take walk ins and they said yes. I went there as it was getting night since I love the view of the city lights. The hostess said to get a table by the view a reservation is required since it gets booked the most. I told her I called earlier and wasn't told that. She offered a booth but it didn't have a nice view, she did let me know a, table in the back may become available but wasn't a guarantee. I asked if someone else had reserved it, she said no. I don't think people would spend until closing at a, table. Anyway I saw many leaving the restaurant and I was still waiting for a table, I even asked for a table in the front but the hostess said they close that section after a certain time. I spoke to the Manager and he wasn't helpful either and suggested the booth which I already declined. The hostess said 10 minute wait but it felt longer. She said the table in the back was available, I sat at the table. I waited a long time to be waited. I don't know if it was done purposely or not since I was the last one seated. I've been to other restaurants before and if I ever had to wait long I would leave. I wanted to try this restaurant because of the view and reviews of the food. Finally the server came out, an older man which appeared to have a broken hip. He asked what I wanted to order. His hospitality was horrible. I asked if the pork chops were big and he said it's a good size. We'll when my order finally came which also was a very long wait, the person who brought my food said my wait was long since my order was the last one. People I can't tell you this is the worse service ever and I've been to some pretty good restaurants. The pork chop wasn't big but it tasted great. My hats off to the chef. The server inisited while I was waiting for my order a drink, he was very pushy about it which annoyed me. I was fine with water, after the service and the wait they put me through I wasn't in the best of spirits. I was done with my food and ordered the chocolate chip cookies. The server again was being pushy with the type of coffee, tea I should order. I knew the larger the order the larger the tip for him which is automatically charged on your bill the 18%. The server didn't greet, offered any meal suggestions, etc. He was only pushy about the orders so his tip can be higher. To who runs this place have a meeting regarding hospitality with the servers. I also noticed they moved people who were already seated at the booth to a table with a view so, now I understand how come I saw many people leaving and I still waited for a, table. Horrible service flow if there's people outside waiting. No one under any circumstance should wait long to be waited on and for their food to arrive. Who tells someone as they're bringing their food it took long cause you're the last person who ordered. I'm still shocked by the service in this place. I wouldn't go back there again. The...

I absolutely would not recommend going here. We booked for our anniversary in early October. We purchased the all inclusive package. When we arrived our table was not ready. After waiting, the manager told us our table was ready and when we arrived the table was still dirty. We were seated near the bar. The people there were quite intoxicated and were often yelling and saying obscenities (4 females, 2-3 males mostly). They also broke a few dishes. It wasn’t a great atmosphere and very hard to hear. Our waitress took all of our order at once (appetizer, entree, and dessert). This was okay but unexpected. We waited over an hour to receive our appetizers as they were given to another table. The calamari was quite rubbery and overcooked. Next came our entree. We both ordered the filet mignon. I think due to the appetizer mistake and our order having already been placed our food had been sitting and our sides were incredibly cold. Our steaks were also over cooked (and barely warm) and had a bad flavor. We had not seen our server since taking our order at this point. Another member of staff came and took our food (it was uneaten as it was completely inedible) but they did not ask about it. During this my husband and I were speaking in a normal volume and the woman who claimed to be the manager walked by and grabbed my husbands arm and said “shhh” but did not say anything to the bar members who were being incredibly loud. We were a little confused as we were absolutely not being loud. We couldn’t even hear each other over the loud bar. Regardless, staff should NEVER touch a customer. I am absolutely appalled that staff here felt the right to grab my partner in any way. It is incredibly violating and disrespectful. Do not go here!

Edited to add that even after reaching out to the manager who responded to this review, I was never contacted back.

I was called by the manager. They did take my review seriously and reached out to better understand...
