Ralph's Coffee — Restaurant in New York

The café is located inside Ralph Lauren boutique in Upper East Side. The historic building blends with the vintage ambiance of this timeless clothing brand. It looks much more glamorous than the Ralph's Coffee in Hong Kong! To sum up, I really enjoyed dining in the UPS branch as the furnitures, decorations, beverage quality contributed to an excellent atmosphere.

Unfortunately, cleanliness of the dining area could be largely improved. As a high end café brand, there were some pastry pieces on the floor, and a fly kept flying around my table which was really disturbing...

＊ Cappuccino w/ Oat Milk Nice latte art! Rich nutty espresso flavor and good amount of foamy milk, creating a perfect blend of oat milk and espresso.

＊ Hot Chocolate w/ Oat Milk A hot chocolate is a must during the holiday season. Perhaps because of the oat milk, the hot chocolate was less creamy and not sweet. I usually dislike drinking sweet beverages, but this chocolate definitely hit my spot. Yet, if you prefer an Italian thick hot chocolate which is sweeter and richer, this might not be your choice.

＊ Scone w/ Jam The menu wrote that the scone would be served with butter and jam but sadly I was told that only jam was available. Given the steep price, this American scone was disappointing, probably unfresh. It wasn't toasted before serving, the texture was too dry and dense. However, it was cute that they provided Bonne Maison mini strawberry jam, which rescued the scone overall marks a bit.

I was here about a month ago, just before moving out of NYC. I kept walking by this location and they always had a line out the door, so I skipped it each time. Finely, the line was a little shorter and I was running out of time so I went in. I asked the staff what all the fuss was about and the gentleman at the counter was so fricken friendly and helpful. They gave me a sample of the draft oat latte. I thought I would hate it because I have yet to like oat coffee, draft coffees, and non-flavored lattes. I was blown away by how good it was. Even though the line was getting longer, I was not rushed but thoroughly helped- he wasn't dawdling just being helpful and kind. I also purchased a few pastries and received another- they were all delicious. Do at least try the draft oat latte, if you have a moment to go in. Today I walked in to try a hot chocolate. It was around 3:40pm when I placed my order at the counter with a blonde woman who asked for my name for the order. I pronounced my name and began to spell it out. After the third letter, she abruptly cut me off and said “OK, WAIT OVER THERE” and points to the area where people pick up their orders. I knew it was rude because she didn’t even let me finish spelling my name and her tone was condescending. A hot chocolate is ready and three people are expecting that it’s theirs. I didn’t know hot chocolate was so popular here. But there’s no name on it. I wonder why there isn’t a name on it if the woman wasn’t writing names. Anyways, it was so rude and left a very poor impression of the “famous” Ralph’s. Won’t be returning. And the hot chocolate was actually mid. It could’ve been silkier and sweeter. But 2 stars for cute...
