Zero Otto Nove in the Flatiron District continues to impress with its incredible take on Italian comfort food, and this visit was no exception. The atmosphere is as warm and inviting as ever, making it the perfect place for a cozy, flavorful meal.
My wife’s choice, the Risotto con Ragu Bianco, was an absolute winner. The Arborio rice was cooked to creamy perfection, with the shredded short rib adding a rich, melt-in-your-mouth texture that perfectly complemented the slight sweetness from the yellow beets. The addition of green peas and peppercorn brought a burst of freshness and spice, while the parmigiano and decadent black truffle cream took the dish to another level. It was a beautifully balanced plate—savory, sweet, and just indulgent enough to feel special.
As for my dish, the Rigatoni Genovese, it was a true standout. The six-hour braised beef brisket was tender and full of deep, savory flavors, and the sweet onions added a subtle sweetness that paired perfectly with the richness of the beef. The peppercorn and parmigiano rounded out the dish, creating layers of flavor with every bite. But what really made it memorable was the roasted bone marrow—finished right at the table, it added an incredible richness and depth to the already flavorful sauce. The combination of textures and flavors made this dish feel like a true celebration of Italian cooking.
The service was, as always, attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed without being overly present. The pacing of the meal was perfect, allowing us to savor every bite without feeling rushed.
Zero Otto Nove once again delivers on both flavor and experience, offering dishes that are both comforting and elevated. Read moreSuper authentic Italian fine dining. And this is coming from someone who was just on their honeymoon in Italy last month.
I went to the original on Arthur Ave in the Bronx (the original Little Italy) years ago and when i heard they had a manhattan location I had to try it out as our 1st Italian meal back in the States. I took my newlywed wife jwre for our 1 month anniversary and it went very well. I invited the new sis-in-law and her bf cuz I'm social like that.
We had wine and all ordered something different. You can see the pictures below. I had the shrimp, scallop and "ear pasta" orecchiette. It was decadent but not too rich. It was perfectly flavorful. The shrimp were plump and delicious. The scallops were buttery and dank.
Didn't give it the 5 star treatment because (and again, I just got back from the Amalfi Coast so I may be actin a little boujee) the pasta could've been a little more al dente. My wife was a little disappointed her meal that she got off the meats section of the menu literally o ly came with meat. It was sausage and chicken. I mean, I would've been thrilled but the lady would've appreciated a veggie or carb to go with it. I did taste her food and the flavors were thru the roof. Sis was the only one who got dessert and that deconstructed Cannoli, transformed into a canolli pie was outstanding. I ate some cuz im greedy.
All in all, amazing place to eat out one night. It wont be cheap (about $90-110 per couple) but that's what you have to pay for that legit Italian deliciousness. Ill be back Zero Otto....
Read moreLapin and I came here the other day for a dinner. We made reservations for 7pm and were seated without any hassles. The restaurant had a cute decor and ambiance that made it feel like you are walking through Italy.
We were given a bread basket with two types of bread. Hands down, the focaccia bread is the best choice. We ordered the Risotto Alla Pescatore ($26) to share. The server was nice enough to split the appetizer between the two of us. Lapin and enjoyed it but I thought it could use a bit more salt but delicious, nevertheless. Lapin ordered the Ragu' Salernitano ($22) which he enjoyed. I ordered the Branzino Al Forno ($26) which was tasty and cooked to perfection. However, with price tag of $26, I felt like it should have came with something else and not plated in a haste (Yup, Dr. Seuss in training!). For dessert, we ordered the chocolate cake ($11 - $12), Cannoli ($7-8), Hazelnut Gelato ($7) and two cappuccinos ($5 each). The desserts were delicious and rich. The cappuccino were strong and effective. They kept me wayyy passed 3am in the morning.
The food is tasty but not in align for the price tag for certain items. The staff was friendly but a bit absent-minded and forgetful. We were never told the specials but another waiter spent 30 minutes talking about the menu and their specials to another table of two girls. They also charged our credit card twice for the same meal. Along with spending a good portion of time with empty water cups, dirty plates in front of us, waiting to order and...
