Reben's Luncheonette is the tiny hole in the wall between McDonalds and Chase bank. It has survived the Williamsburg gentrification phase thus far, which is great! The place is full at all times of the day. That is the clear indication of good food. Reben's is a great cheap spot to grab a quick breakfast. It sits about ten people max; this is not an ideal place to dine, though. So your options are to place your order to go or chow down your food fast.
These guys make THE best home fries. They are consistent with it too. It is never burnt or clumped up as I have experienced at other places. Solid scrambled eggs with cheese on top. If you have never had the pleasure of drinking a morir sonando drop everything you are doing and make your way to Reben's asap (forgetaboutit if your lactose intolerant). Morir sonando (die dreaming) is the delicious concoction that Dominicans thought up. It is freshly squeezed orange juice mixed with milk and sugar. Don't knock it until you try it!
Don't worry about smelling like food after eating at Reben's because you won't. I am not the type of girl that is ok with eating at places where the smells of the food will stick to my clothes. So worry not, even though it is a tight spot.
The guys that run Reben's are always happy, courteous, and fast. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area and want...
Read moreI ordered through Uber eats, I ordered two chimi sandwiches, side order of fries for both, and 4 beef patelitos. I see all the good reviews and I honestly don’t understand what happened. The chimi meat was dry and for the second half of my sandwich, the meat only covered half of the bread. The first part of the sandwich was okay but idk what happened there. The fries never came with my order, when I called my driver they said the restaurant said they put everything in there (the fries had instructions too, so I’m not sure how you end up forgetting food that has instructions on top of it) now for the patelitos...they were inedible for me. Very chewy/but crunchy??? I love crunchy food but this was not it..my partner’s was still kind of raw but he somehow finished his but I couldn’t finish my second one. My assumption is they left it out too long or it didn’t cook enough. We were both disappointed unfortunately. Today may have just not been their day, but this food makes it hard for us both...

My entire life I had the notion that oranges and milk should never cross paths. I don't know where it came from, it was just one of those weird things that get inside a person's head and becomes part of their belief system. Now, as an adult I know that I was wrong. And why? Two words: morir soñando.
Orange juice, evaporated milk, sugar and crushed ice vigorously stirred to a smooth, frothy consistency this gift from the Dominican Republic is the stuff of dreams.
Unfortunately I cannot tell you any more about the menu at Reuben Luncheonette as I've only ever ordered this one thing. The staff are always friendly and seem somewhat amused by our single mindedness when we visit.
If you only want to try a taste of morir soñando and aren't ready for a full one, there are often leftovers that are put out as samples so keep your eyes peeled when...
