Racist & Unsanitary Pizza Spot.
Today around 2:31pm I walked into Rocco’s & the experience was absolutely the worst experience I have had at a NYC Pizza spot. I’m a regular at Sam’s Pizza in Brooklyn as well as Percy’s $2 Pizza in the Village. I have always been treated with the utmost respect at Sam’s downtown Brooklyn as well as Percy’s $2 Pizza . At Rocco’s there’s a double standard of service for BLACK Customers compared to the level of service Latino & White customers receive. At Rocco’s it also seems to be ok to refer indirectly refer to BLACK ppl as “mariano” a derogatory term in Spanish for a person of color. It also seems to be on at Rocco’s to refuse to service a human being that kindly asked for. The slice of pizza I wanted. I didn’t want the slice he wanted me to have because his hands touched it without having gloves on. I’m the person that has to eat the slice. I’m allowed to ask the server to not touch my pizza with his bare hands. I’m allowed to ask that you use the spatula not your hands to get “my” slice of pizza. I have never been to a pizza spot especially during Covid where the server isn’t wearing basic plastic gloves. Being a Southern it’s hard to deal with ppl who don’t understand that not all ppl are rude. I’m always the thank you sue type but this guy totally disrespectful & unsanitary. I expect the slice I ask for, not to be called derogatory names in any language & I expect same smiles & friendly greeting as Latino & Caucasian customers especially if I’m smiling &...
Read moreSimply wrong and bizarre. A friend and me walked past Rocco’s last Saturday and thought we could stop and sit for a quick coffee. The front of the premises says “ Pizza - Coffee “ they even have a sign on the pavement. When we walked in we realized the place was empty and the man at the counter kind of looked at us in a strange , not pleased to greet and almost surprised way. We asked for 2 coffees and he said : “we don’t have milk “ I said “ how about 2 expresso? “ then he strangely said , “ no milk , only coffee, do you want it or not?” So I replied yes please. I noticed the barista machine had some rather nice retro light green cups , matching the places’ decor . I was looking forward to sipping my coffee in one of those but oh no … they were only for show, our $3 micro shot of expresso came in a plastic cup . We sat down and drank it . When we left we got shouted at for not tiding up the table and putting the plastic cups in the bin . At that point I had enough of him and said . That’s included in your your service. Meaning that after being ripped off and the borderline rude treatment, that’s the least he could do. Not the place I will put on my list...
Read moreThe slice of cheese pizza itself was fine, a little salty but no issues with it otherwise.
I guess if you’re coming here for nothing but a slice, you’re going to have a fine time, but even appearing as though you want to use the washroom even AFTER paying will get you immediate rude service.
Disappointed in the customer service here. We purchased a slice and sat down to eat. The person I was with got up to use the washroom. The cashier informed us that because we only purchased one slice, only one of us was allowed to use the washroom, which was fine, and then proceeded to insult us by asking the person I was with after we had paid and gotten the slice, “what’s the rush to use the washroom?” I was shocked by the treatment of this paying customer. I obviously don’t expect impeccable service but the disdainful looks and unnecessarily rude comments when he could have just not said anything offensive instead left me wishing I hadn’t spent $3 here.
Aside from that, if you do come here, there are a few seats with tables. It isn’t cramped...
