My Recommendation: Go Somewhere Else
I’ve really tried to like this place, as it’s right around the corner from me, and I’ve heard others speak positively about it in the past. The food is decent, but the service is consistently awful no matter who is working, and that’s why I’m leaving this review.
One incident in particular stands out: my friend only eats vegan, so we ordered the vegan pizza. The owner, who was clearly working, asked if he could charge a little more than the posted price, and I agreed. He then charged ten dollars above the listed price. When I went back to complain, he claimed the extra charge was for toppings, which wasn’t true. I let it go.
On multiple visits, I’ve been made to wait while others who arrived after me were served first. Most recently, I placed an order outside, and despite politely saying “excuse me” several times, both employees ignored me. I assumed they were busy, but then a guy walked in off the street, ordered three slices, and they immediately put his in the oven while continuing to ignore me. I walked away.
When I tried calling to explain what happened, I was immediately put on hold without even being allowed to speak. Friends of mine have also had similar bad experiences here.
While the food is decent, it’s definitely not worth the price given the disrespectful service. After a year of giving this place multiple chances, I can’t recommend it. There are so many other pizza options in the neighborhood without the terrible treatment.
P.S. I have a strong suspicion their behavior is homophobic, which unfortunately still happens in...
Read moreIt is my childhood. Till this day I go there and even my husband knows if I want it then we must get it somehow. I've had my first slice of pizza ever when I was a baby. My favorite is always an extra cheese and can of whatever juice or ginger ale they have. I cannot stress how much you must go here. My grandfather and grandmother, went here my father went there with his brother, my grandfather took me and then I took my nieces. So this pizza place has been open for about 4 generations of my family for about 50+ years. These people are family and make the pizza with love. I brought my cousin who is from staten island back here for a lunch date. She is in her late 30's she had a slice with me one day after not being a sacco for so long and said whoa!!! it has not changed since I was a kid. CHANGE IS OK but when its special that it brings your family together nothing needs to be changed. This has to be made into a landmark of hells kitchen. The flavor the texture the new york thin crust there is not anything like it. I got a tattoo of a slice of extra cheese and pepperoni because of them that i keep close to me. Its not as delicious as the actual thing though you must try it...

Is it a "hole in the wall"? Yes! That's what makes it authentic and good. And the people working here are what make this place so warm and welcoming.
The pizza itself is good - it's a basic, thin-crust cheese slice. It's always fresh and hot. We have also ordered from here for school events for PTA or for birthday parties and Sacco's always delivers the highest quality pizza.
My family and I have been coming to Sacco since we moved to the neighborhood almost three years ago and I love that they know our family and are buddies with our 4yo and always offer him shredded cheese. He loves going there at least once a week to pick up pizza with his dad, usually in his pajamas - it's become a tradition and it makes me so happy.
Thank you for being such a staple in the...
