Columbus Hardware — Local services in New York

Horrible customer service, poor shipment handling, and unreliable delivery service. I had a package delivered to Columbus Hardware and went to retrieve it at 5:45pm. The employee said they close the UPS Access Point at 5:30pm even though the email from UPS says it's available for pickup until 6pm. I didn't argue and returned the next morning. I showed the same employee my ID for the package and he asked for the last 4 digits of the tracking number. As I was pulling up my email he said in Spanish "These customers are never ready" (I guess he didn't know I speak perfect Spanish? It also took me less than 10 seconds to open my email and provide him with the digits). I ignored his rude comment and provided the tracking number. After I saw and heard him kicking around other people's shipments for two minutes, he said he didn't have the package and to call UPS. I called UPS, got more information about the delivery and called Columbus Hardware back since UPS confirmed they shipped the package with a signature and a photo. The same employee answered and and his response was "I don't have your package bro and we don't handle these situations on the phone."

Overall this has been a horrible experience and urge everyone to use a different UPS Access Point. Even if you receive your package, it is likely they handled it very poorly in...

Just moved to NYC, HD is pretty far away - needed to find a local hardware store for everything one needs when first moving into an apartment. Found these guys - they let me buy some plywood for some shelves that had been pre-cut for another customer that didn't pick it up, and also helped facilitate getting it cut to the proper size. They even let me have some additional scrap wood that I needed at no cost, and helped me get the right nails and bolts I needed for another project. This is wonderful neighborhood hardware store. The staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. They carry basically everything you could ever need in your house, including supplies for carpentry, electrical, plumbing, pests, etc. The prices are reasonable. And the staff (Debbie, Luis, Carlos, etc.) will really work with you to understand your problem and help you fix it. Plus, they cut wood for custom shelving sizes and things like that.
