If you’re looking for a down-to-earth, fairly priced, and cozy bar in Hell’s Kitchen, you’ll love Valhalla.
Not only is the staff always friendly, but they have plenty of table and seating options for one person all the way up to large groups.
And to round it out, you’ll find a large selection (48 according to their website) of craft and unique beers. Many are on tap!
I highly recommend you check it out if you’re in the Midtown Manhattan area, but here’s a full review if you want to learn more about Valhalla. 👇
As mentioned, the staff here is fantastic. They can be down for a good chat on a slow night but always are on top of service even on busy nights.
What I love most about Valhalla is the interior. As the name might suggest, it def has a “rustic Vikings” vibe.
Unique decor, plenty of TVs, and nice bathrooms (by bar standards) round everything out nicely.
Valhalla generally has the “main” sports games on. So if you’re looking or somewhere to watch Monday Night Football (for example), it’ll likely be showing here! It really is a super fun bar spot!
We’ve even shown up with groups of 10-12 and typically haven’t had a problem finding a spot. That’s more true in the Summer when there’s outdoor seating available.
And now for Valhalla’s food, which we’ve enjoyed every time we’ve been! ⬇
The food is ACTUALLY delicious.
We’ve tried many of Valhalla’s menu items, and here are some we’ve loved:
Chicken wings Bavarian pretzels (this is our favorite) Hand-cut fries Mozzarella sticks Bratwurst (better than expected) Sliders We haven’t had any food from Valhalla that we didn’t like…
AND, the same goes for the drinks. 🍻
Valhalla is a beer bar, so don’t expect anything extraordinarily unique or fancy in the cocktails realm.
But their beer selection is absolutely phenomenal.
They carry lots of craft beers, local brews, and even imported drafts. Here are some of the favorites we’ve had at Valhalla:
Mead flight (this is where we first tried Mead and fell in love with it) Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Delirium Tremens (classic option) Bolero Snort Fruity Pebbulls 14 Star Maple Breakfast Stout Brooklyn Pulp Art … Just to name a few 🍺
Most of their draft beers range from $10-$12, on par for NYC.
Valhalla really has a local bar feel, that’s sometimes rare in NYC.
Their beer selection is massive, the food is well above average, and you can always catch...
Read morePretty cool bar with a lot of beer and cider options! More of a dive bar feel, I only remember one TV so if you're looking to watch a game of any sort, you're probably better off going elsewhere. Went here with three friends with very different tastes in beer and everyone was able to find something they really liked. I love cider, and although a couple of the ones available were a bit too far on the sweet side, I still appreciated their dedication to having multiple options and flavors, like pineapple, passion fruit, and pear, which you don't commonly see elsewhere.
Food wise: ordered a Bavarian pretzel to snack on, and while smaller than I'd have liked, it came hot and tasted pretty good. Bf ordered beef sliders which came with fries, and while I can't speak to the sliders, I loved the fries. Handcut, well-seasoned, and most importantly IMHO well-fried. No soggy limp or pale taters here!
Service: absolutely awesome! The bar was pretty active the entire 3 hr span we were there (10:30p-1:30ish), but we never felt like we were waiting or wanting for attention. Glasses were cleared pretty quickly, which helped bc there were four of us at a small tall bar table.
Overall, pretty great place for late night beers...
Read moreValhalla... what can I say? Awesome. Listed as a "dive bar". I've been in a few dives. Valhalla is more folksy than dive.
Probably the perfect place if you're a Minnesota Vikings fan. Lots of homage paid to Nordic culture. No problem with that.
On to the experience. Found myself in the mood for some mead.
One of the very knowledgeable and super cool bartenders set me up with a tasty and enjoyable mead flight.
The sweet meads got the taste buds for something a little sour. Fortunately the bar has a few sour options on tap.
I saw about 15 brews on tap...and a nice selection of NY whiskey at the bar.
Ordered some sliders and fries. Gotta sate the appetite and keep the booze buzz at bay.
The munchies came out in under 15 minutes. Good, hot, yummy. Nothing too spectacular or fancy. Just a good good burger like one would get at a bud's house on a Friday night when the game is on.
Really cool vibe, just a laid-back atmosphere. It's located in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen, I believe.
Stayed about three hours. Had the mead flight, the meal, two sours, a stout and a pour of rye to cap things off.
Came to about $85...
