Horrible experience at this restaurant! I have NEVER written a negative review before but this situation warrants it! I have a child with nut allergy. My husband and I went to dinner with my 4 kids and special needs brother. We ordered mix appetizer for the table but made sure to ask before my son with allergy ate it to make sure there are no nuts. I asked TWO different people! The front desk girl and the server who said both said no multiple times. While eating it I tasted a nut and I asked my son what he ate. We called the server (an Egyptian lady just to ID her, she told me she is Egyptian) and she said there is no nuts 2 times!!! We showed her the walnut piece. Then she went to the back and said " the chef said there are nuts in 2 of the dishes" and my son with allergies already ate one of them! I ran next door to get Benadryl and grabbed water as I walked in. She weirdly grabbed the water from me to take to the table. She asked him if he was ok. He went to the bathroom nauseated, his throat was itching and his chest was tight. I thought we could cancel our order or we could just try to finish and leave. We decided not to cancel the order as they probably were already preparing our large order My husband did not tip and I wouldn't have either! Then she started yelling at him and saying it is the law to tip. she said she asked if he is ok after, that doesn't help!!! She also said she offered to remove the platter, AFTER he ate it??? My husband said I didn't tip because you guys said there were no nuts and my son has an allergy. She said "I don't care". And then had to nerve to come to me as I was waiting for my other son to come out of the bathroom. She raising her voice and telling me it's not right, I told her I never fight with anyone but this is about my child who can go into anaphylactic shock. She said "I know." What does she know???? We ended up calling an ambulance to be on the safe side. If she knew she would understand why she doesn't deserve our tip or anyone's business! If you have nut allergies DO NOT go to this horrible place. My son with food allergies is now at the hospital getting checked my younger ones ended the night...
Read moreYears ago there was a legendary Turkish restaurant in Brooklyn-“Sahara” which was famous for incredibly delicious food, exotic ambiance and incredible hospitality, many people were saddened when this establishment got closed. Apparently this relatively new restaurant is or at least trying to be a new version/reincarnation of the old Sahara which opened in a different part of Brooklyn and in a much smaller place. We loved old Sahara and to be honest were a bit skeptical about the new one especially after reading a few not very favorable reviews but decided to finally give it a try, form our own opinion and we were really impressed. So we ordered 2 appetizers-Labneh (Lebne)-creamy spread made out of yoghurt with chopped nuts, Mediterranean spices and a bit of extra virgin olive oil; Turkish Eggplant Tomato Sauce/dip-fried eggplant dish of saucy tomatoes and tender eggplant, all lovingly kissed with just the perfect amount of spice. Both appetizers were delicious, portions were big enough to share and went superbly with the star of our order-huge plate of Mixed Meats grill. Meat was cooked to perfection, was so juicy, flavorful, with amazing melt in your mouth texture and very tantalizing scent. Portion was huge, came with 2 side dishes-yummy fries and spectacular rice, also it came with a full side of the fresh, delicious Shepherd salad (we paid extra for feta cheese and in my opinion could’ve gotten more cheese but not going to be petty and remove any points for that), 3 large loafs of freshly baked Turkish bread and 2 kinds of traditional sauces-white and hot tomato one (both very tasty). For the reasonable price we got lots of food and what happens rarely these days-quality matched quantity. Really enjoyed our dinner, looking forward to trying something else from the vast menu and definitely recommend this small restaurant, located in an obscure part of town, to...
Read moreI saw this restaurant off of tictok and thought it would have been a great choice to enjoy my birthday, which was 23rd with my mom, cousin, and 4 yr old daughter. The restaurant was not busy. There was one other table. I was charged a 15% service charge, which added up to almost 18 dollars a 3 % because I used my bank card. I thought NY only applied tips or service charges for over 5 people. The can soda that u pay a dollar for were 7.50 for 3 cans. I ordered bread and waiter said he'll bring me, so i thought it was on the house, but I was charged 4 dollars. Like, I'm sorry, but your service sucks and you have all these weird fees. Like who in NYC with this economy walks around with 200-300. I had to literally turn around and call for assistance since we were siitted in the last table to back. I asked the waiter about the service charge, and he asked if I would like it to be removed, which I said no to. You should understand that without paying customers, you won't be in business. Try to charge appropriately. The waiter did not deserve almost 18 dollars! ⭐️ Not forgetting I paid 4 dollars for parking. If you don't have money to throw away, do not go here. I will not...
