Have you eaten at San Remo Pizzeria Restaurant established in 1976 in Brooklyn, New York? It was a busy little place! My first pitstop after arriving in New York. Classic New York style… And I enjoyed watching the Bizzy pizzeria do their thing. Went from Maryland to New York, about 181 mile to pick up my wife. I stayed at an Airbnb in Brooklyn. So after unpacking I walked around a bit and my first meal I had was at a local pizza joint, SAN REMO Pizzeria & Restaurant. I just looked around, watched people coming in and ordering! It was NY! It had that Atmosphere, attitude, the pizza joint hustle. Pizzas looked great! They had a good selection. And they were 21 inch pies! They were whipping out pizzas, the guy at the register was singing and humming a tune. No music playing. But everyone had there roll. I got a few different slices. I was hoping to come back again, time flew by. Was it worth it? Yesss! Definitely! I went to a few other pizza joints around but they didn’t have the spunk, attitude, atmosphere, and quality this joint had!

Read moreI was in the neighborhood buying beer the other day, and I accidentally stumbled upon San Remo. It looks like a typical Brooklyn slice joint. The guys behind the counter were both Italian, and the younger one was pestering the older one making the pizzas. After some light banter I got a slice well done to go and ate it walking. This ended up being the best NY street slice I've had in quite awhile. The crust itself had a nice fresh-bread flavor, and it was crisp and light with some leopard spotting underneath. The sauce was flavorful with a little hint of garlic. The cheese was fresh and applied judiciously. The whole thing was balanced in a way that it was greater than the sum of its parts. It wasn't necessary noteworthy in the sense that it had some exotic ingredient or was made by some guy from a stupid food show; it was just plain older fashioned great pizza. It's scary how hard it is to find legitimately great NY slices now outside of a handful of places like this. If you live...
Read moreI stopped by for the first time last night for a slice. I got grandma's slice, which is marinara, mozzarella, and pesto. It was easily one of the best slices of pizza I've ever had. The crust was thin but not too thin, the toppings were high quality. Everything in the display looked good, especially the zeppolli and the chocolate chip cookies. The worker I got was nice and friendly as I deliberated over what to get and asked a lot of questions but the cashier whose body language indicated he might be the owner was a little abrasive. Pizza was good enough to excuse his behavior though. 😋 I told my family about it and now we are waiting for a 12-slice pie of grandma's pizza to be delivered. I'm excited to eat it again. The reason we are getting it delivered and not going to the restaurant is bc they don't have air conditioning and it was so hot in there last night we ate standing up on the...
