Sant Ambroeus Coffee Bar at Hanley lands a respectable three stars, balancing its stylish ambiance and warm service with a notable hiccup during peak hours. First off, the place exudes style. It’s a chic spot, drawing in a fashionable crowd, and the seating is spot-on for those seeking a touch of sophistication with their coffee experience. However, the friendly service hits a snag during peak times. While the staff maintains a welcoming vibe, the struggle to nail orders correctly when things get busy can be a bit frustrating. It’s a drawback that impacts the overall experience for those seeking a seamless visit. In summary, Sant Ambroeus at Hanley snags three stars. It’s a cool place with friendly faces, but the occasional order mix-up during busy periods might leave you with a dash of inconvenience. A tweak in the efficiency department could easily turn it into a more satisfying coffee haven.

I have often walked by the Sant Ambroeus Coffee Bar on Third Avenue but always had the distinct impression that it was overpriced and seemed to attract a certain clientele that didn’t mind spending more because it limited the kinds of customers who might prefer a cheaper cup of coffee. I was shocked that a large latte cost over $8 and probably should have headed to the door but wondered, is it possible that their coffee would be worth the price? While trying to decide, I checked out the prices of their salads and sandwiches, that actually looked reasonably priced but regrettably, I just ordered the latte and after a few sips, tossed it in a garbage can! In my opinion, their coffee is indeed overpriced but their salads and sandwiches might be worth buying! I might return to sample their other menu items but I really was disappointed with my overpriced latte !

A cute coffee bar with big flavor. The grain salad was elegantly flavored, refreshing and also filling. Perfect for summer days. The hot chocolate is not particularly dense, in terms of texture, compared with other Italian hot chocolate in the city. However I found it soothing, not too rich/sweet, and easy to drink. The barista made a small cup for my little one - a super kind and thoughtful move. A pleasant option within walking distance of Central Park. Can't wait to go back next time.

I’ve been coming to this café consistently for the past month, using my laptop to work while always purchasing drinks and food to support the business. It’s a cozy space and had become part of my daily routine until today.

Out of nowhere, I was told that using a computer is against their policy. There were no signs posted, and nothing was ever mentioned during the many visits I’ve made. It felt especially frustrating and frankly discriminatory, considering other patrons seemed to be treated differently or allowed to stay longer without question.

If this is truly a policy, it should be made clear from the start not selectively enforced. I used to feel welcomed here, but now it feels like certain people are being singled out, and that’s unacceptable.

A coffee shop should be a community space, not one that makes people...
