OMG finally a vegan restaurant that appreciates vegetables and serves up artful, seasonal, flavor-packed veggies in course after course. A refreshing change from all the restaurants dishing up deep-fried fake meat. Shosh is a real treat, on the level of the Chef Guy franchise (Anixi etc.)
We started with the focaccia which comes with an olive and tomato dip. Can never resist focaccia. I have to say, this was an unusual rendition of it. It was like a big handful of pizza dough was stretched into an 18-inch baton and then baked. Tasty and fresh, but more of a breadstick experience than focaccia experience.
We had the seasonal soup, whose details I am forgetting but was a delicious puréed root vegetable experience.
Next we got the iconic celeriac shawarma. SUPER fun dish that is not to be missed. Love that they use a glorious vegetable to stand in for meat rather than a processed meat substitute. It is delicious and comes atop a bowl of perfect hummus. Yum.
After that, we had what was probably my favorite dish, the ajoblanco, a compilation of seasonal vegetables (most memorably baby cauliflower) impeccably seasoned and served with a garlicky (but not too garlicky) cream.
Then we had the squash sage gnocchi which was great; a little more decadent than the other dishes and not necessarily more delicious (although it was delicious!)
For dessert, we had a slice of the chocolate cake that was from the Love Bakery, which is a tiny and AWESOME artisanal vegan bakery that makes everything free of refined sugar and oil. This slice of cake blew our minds and was worth the high price.
Lastly, the atmosphere was great - cute, modern, cozy - making it ideal for a date spot or a solo meal at the bar. And the service was warm and helpful. Can’t wait to go back to try new seasonal things and repeat some of...
Read moreA truly special birthday dinner at Shosh — an unforgettable plant-based experience.
We celebrated my birthday at Shosh, and it was everything I hoped for and more. From the moment we sat down at the bar facing the open kitchen, we felt like we were part of something intimate and special. Chef Anat took the time to chat with us throughout the meal — her warmth and passion shine through in both her presence and her food.
To start, the team welcomed us with complimentary prosecco — a lovely gesture that set the tone for the evening.
We shared several dishes and were blown away by each one:
Artichoke – beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. A standout both visually and flavor-wise.
Falafel – unlike any falafel we’ve had before: light, airy, and not the least bit greasy. It came with the most finely chopped Israeli salad — like it was cut with a razor blade.
Kebab – this dish will convert even the most skeptical meat-eaters. It's 100% plant-based but has all the satisfying depth and texture of meat.
Tagliatelle – dangerously good. It’s so rich and creamy, it will have people swearing there’s butter and cheese involved. (There isn’t.)
For dessert, we had the Halva Silan, and it was the perfect sweet finish — not too heavy, but packed with flavor.
We also enjoyed a few glasses of rosé wine that was both tasty and very reasonably priced.
Shosh isn’t just another plant-based restaurant — it’s soulful, creative, and rooted in Israeli tradition, with a modern, elevated twist. You can tell every detail is intentional, from the plating to the pacing to the playlist. Sitting at the bar and watching the kitchen at work made it feel even more personal.
Highly recommend snagging a seat at the bar if you can — and...
Read moreShōsh is a culinary gem that blends the traditions of Israeli and Mediterranean cuisine with a vegan twist. From the moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The attentive staff and friendly chef ensured a memorable dining experience.
The highlight of our meal was the geometrically carved grilled celeriac shawarma served over a bed of ethereal hummus with freshly baked bread, but all the dishes were culinary masterpieces, not only visually stunning but also a flavor explosion. The chef's innovative approach to vegan cuisine elevated these dishes to a work of art. The wine selection by the glass is well-curated.
We were particularly impressed by the restaurant's ability to accommodate dietary restrictions. Our friend with food allergies was served a delicious modified dish that was just as satisfying as the original, while the rest of us were served the original version.
Sitting at the chef's counter provided a fascinating glimpse into the culinary artistry behind the scenes. The chef's passion and dedication were evident...
