A regular slice is $1.25 or $1.50, and if you want toppings? Youâre looking at $2.50. Thatâs not outrageous at all, if the pizza was good. But itâs not. In fact, itâs the worst pizza Iâve ever had.
The cheese doesnât even seem real. You know that satisfying stretch you get with mozzarella? The creamy flavor? You wonât find that here. This stuff tastes like salted rubber. Itâs overly salty without actually being flavorful, and the texture is weirdly firm and plasticky. And when you pair that with barely any sauce and a thick slab of dough that tastes like cardboard? Youâre not eating pizzaâyouâre just eating disappointment in triangle form.
And the toppings? Forget about it. The vegetables taste like they were soaked in a bucket of chemicals and then left under a heat lamp all day. Thereâs no freshness, no flavor, no pride in whatâs being served. This is low-effort, high-profit food with no respect for the customer or the craft.
But the worst part isnât even the pizza. Itâs the why. This place isnât aiming to serve good foodâitâs aiming to catch you at your lowest. Itâs open late, and it clearly knows its main customers are drunk, high, broke, or all three. And I say that with sympathy for the people, not the business. Because when youâre out late with nothing else open, this becomes your only option. And it knows that.
The environment reflects this too. Itâs common to be approached outside by people begging for moneyâmany of whom are struggling with addiction. The issue isnât poverty. The issue is that this business is nestled in a struggling community and gives nothing of value back to it. It just takes.
The bigger picture? This isnât just about one bad slice. Itâs a whole trend in this neighborhood: cheap, low-quality food being sold at the highest price people will tolerate. Produce shops get torn down, and in their place we get delis, fast food, and pizza shops selling garbage. Theyâre not feeding the communityâtheyâre draining it.
I'm not writing this in hopes that theyâll do better. Iâm done hoping. This is a warning: donât expect quality from this place. And if the price ever goes up again? Donât be surprised if the pizza somehow gets even worse.
Truth is, the best food-related spot in the area might just be Walgreens. And that should tell...
Read moreI went all the way from the south side to this low, poor quality pizza shop because my mom brought pizza here once, really liked it, and was in the mood to have some so I walked there after calling and verifying they do not deliver. When I get there there are men smoking near the establishment, kids playing and trying to scare a bird that flew into the shop, and the man behind the counter taking the orders does not even pay attention or acknowledge the order in which the customers are lined up. It's horrible that they didnt make this business a real restaurant where customers can wait inside instead of having to smell second hand smoke while waiting your turn outside. This establishment only fits about 5 people standing up near the counter; there is no area to sit. To make matters worse, a man skips in front of me and the man behind the counter takes his order like nothing happened because he has no clue what is happening in the shop. When I complained the man behind the counter basically shushed me like this was normal for him. I decided to leave and spend my money in another restaurant that was clean and comfortable to eat in. The man behind the counter kept calling out for me to wait and come back. Little does he know that I was the person who called to ask if they deliver. It's a shame, the guy who skipped me in the line probably spent $3. However, I was planning to spend much more than the imbecile who decided to sneak in front of me. I will not step foot or spend my money in this shop. Do not recommend this place to anyone who lives in...
Read moreThe only reason this place is getting a 4 star average is because people like to act like it's the end of the world when everything doesn't go exactly as they demand it to. Over privileged brats saying to themselves "I'll show them!" before picking up their phones and leaving nasty reviews. It's absurd but, that's the reality of the online world we live in, and this place does not deserve anything less than 5 â 's because they happen to serve what I consider to easily be the best 99¢ slice of pizza in all of New York City. I seriously travel from uptown Manhattan just to eat here. Their cheese pizza isn't boring like every other comparable pizza place. The cheese has flavor. The sauce has flavor. Those flavors are delicious. The dough/ crust is crisp in all the right places, soft in all the other right places, fresh and just perfect. It's a quality pie, and it tastes like it too. I've searched all over this city for the best value slice and this is it. To do all that with the consistency they do it with, a smile, and lightning fast service is impressive. They must go through thousands of pies a day without missing a beat, and if that's not deserving of a 5 â rating, I don't know what is. What you get here for the price is much, much better than places that charge a lot more, and for that I am grateful, and I have absolutely no problem with taking the time to leave a review to show a little appreciation. Oh, and it's incredibly easy to get to since it's right by the train station too so, that's always a plus. Thanks Supreme Pizza!...
