Have traveled to this area the last 8 and a half years on and off for work. Over that time I have tried countless places to eat within a 10 block radius or more of where the hotel I stay at is. This is not only my favorite, but IMHO the best place I've eaten. As of this review writing, i agree 100% with some of the other reviews in that their lunch / dinner deal are super affordable, especially when taking into account the area and proximity to NYC. They have a Ramen + sushi roll deal that is super filling at the price, alot of options within the deal to mix and match to choose from, and is delicous. You also get a small salad as well. Ramen they do there is top notch. Always get mine veggie. ATM I believe it is around 13 bucks during dinner and 11.50? During lunch. To put a full meal at this price in perspective to the area, if you walk across the street to the convience store and buy an 8 oz red bull its $4.00. That's closer to what static price is for the area. So again the 13 bucks is a bargain and an even bigger bargain when you take into account how delicious the food is. The staff here is SUPER FRIENDLY. You get greated immediately with excited positivity when you walk in, and happy thank yous when you leave, as if EVERYONE on the staff was glad you came, and, really appreciate you coming into the establishment to eat. Just a super place to catch a meal. Place itself is small, casual and i like the intamite feel of it. Really has Authentic Japanese style food and atmosphere at a great price that can't be beat. Read moreI love this place so much. Been here twice for dinner and am proud to say it has officially entered into our top restaurant rotation.
If you’ve been to Japan, you know it’s unwise to shy away from sushi and ramen shops nestled near the train station since thats where some of the best options lay hidden. And Suzuki Shokudo offers that same experience in Long Island City.
From the outside, it innocently looks like any of the random (and probably meh) Japanese spots you see all over the place. But make no mistake, here is the real deal and one of the most authentic restaurants around.
The service is friendly and prompt and the food is authentic, fresh and delicious. I feel like I’m being transported to Japan when I walk in.
The takoyaki was perfectly cooked with a generous amount of squid inside and still-curling bonito on top. The ramen was delicious with the most tender pork, fresh veggies, perfectly firm noodles and a gentle broth that wasn’t overly salty and seasoned yet packed serious flavor. The sushi was neatly presented and fresh - simple and near perfection. My wife’s teriyaki box was also flawless with a generous portion as well. Will try the dessert next time.
Writing all that made me hungry again… Beam...
Read moreVisited here during a Saturday lunch time to catch up with a friend who recommended this place. My friend was running late so I was seated by a guy worker there and waited for my friend about 10 minutes. Once my friend arrived, an old lady server took away the menu I was looking at prior to my friend’s arrival.
Then shortly after having a discussion with a guy worker, she came back to get our orders with ATTITUDE. Tried to remain calm and be cordial thinking that she must be going through something (even though that doesn’t justify her not being professional)—she kept on being rude so I bluntly say in the air to my friend while she’s taking our orders, “why is she giving me an attitude?”
Guess what? She finally fixed her attitude and pretended to be nice. Did you think that I wasn’t local here or don’t speak English fluently? I was just sitting waiting for my friend respectfully. If you cannot respect other people as a Japanese, I have nothing to say but sorry. Do better. Treat customers better. Chef was nice so remember your actions do ruin his restaurant’s long-built...
