The first one! Even though my favorite Sweetleaf is the one in Greenpoint. This was the first one, I remember when it was a 1/4 of the space of what it is now. It's really a pleasure to see this business grow and grow with it, now it's hard to enjoy coffee anywhere else! Lol. Sweetleaf now has the best and most friendly baristas, and they're all so knowledgeable and armed with skills to make you the beat cup of coffee possible, some of them I call them friends since Sweetleaf feels like my second home and where I've made lifetime friends as well.
Sweetleaf is more than just coffee... it IS coffee and they do it more than well!. But it's a lot about the people and the community for me.
I can't tell you enough about how unique is this place and if you're a tourist/visitor or new to town and don't know where to go to sit down and take a good cup of coffee, just stop and pick the closets Sweetleaf you can get to now and go.
Pastries are made in house every day by and of course they're also delicious.
I have always been obsessed with the decor and style of the shops and I love the back room on this location, I'm not saying much since it's something you shouldn't miss if you're there, just walk all the way to the back. I love you Sweetleaf and all the people that are involved in running this...

Sweetleaf has three sections that all add something unique to the atmosphere of the place. The vinyl listening room in the back feels like a cozy getaway in the big city. The couch in the front feels like I'm drinking coffee in a cozy living room. The laptop room ensures that folks who want to work on their laptops will do so in one section, and the rest of the patrons will be journaling, reading, catching up with friends, going on dates... the list goes on. While these are normal activities for most coffee shops, Sweetleaf stands out due to its friendly staff and homey atmosphere. Plus, I love the mocha lattes and their fall/winter seasonal menu!
I think this neighborhood is full of people who are living fast-paced individual lives. A spot like Sweetleaf is important because it's a gathering place for people from all walks of life in the neighborhood who want a cozy place to rest and a...
Read moreThe atmosphere is nice. The music isn’t too loud, there are multiple places to sit, and the location is convenient (next to a bus stop and on a busy corner). I especially like the varying kinds of seating arrangements. There is a couch, bar seating that looks out a window, and normal tables to sit at. It’s inviting.
For the coffee, I personally think their espresso is gross. I always get a normal cappuccino with 2% milk. The shot was pulled too long I think. The initial flavor is incredibly sour and slightly burnt. I was disappointed, to say the least.
The staff on shift was quite nice. Very soft smile and inviting vibe. We didn’t converse or anything, so I can’t make any more comments on that. I came pretty late (5pm), so things might be different during rush hour.
Apologies for the photo! I forgot to take a picture...
