I wish they had separate ratings definitely good chicken but their covid policy is the dumbest thing I have ever seen in my life. I was there yesterday the register worker asked me if I was vaccinated I said no. she continues to take my order mind you I have no mask on and then she tells me that I am not allowed to eat inside sitting down. so we literally waited about 25 minutes inside sitting down till our food was ready. once my food was ready pretty much I was told I'm not allowed to eat inside because I am not vaccinated.. first of all they need to have somebody in the front door to ask people if you are vaccinated or not. they should have never taken my order if they are going to truly follow this mandate. I have no respect for this owner as he wants things both ways but yet has the nerve to take my money. there are other businesses following the rules and they are losing money because of it this guy here is trying to have his cake and eat it too very stupid encounter I had yesterday here. ( updated my rating to five stars because the food is incredible but this city of New York is killing the small businesses and making it very confusing...
Read moreExcellent fried chicken, and a very worthy addition to the restaurant ensemble in Long Island City.
I ordered takeout in person. It wasn’t busy in the restaurant, but the kitchen was abuzz with staff working hard on takeout and delivery orders.
Only ended up getting the 36 piece poppers, which are a boneless option of theirs. I thought it was going to be like popcorn chicken, but I was impressed to find the opposite—substantial, chunky pieces of chicken fried to perfection.
The batter wasn’t oily by any means. The chicken was extremely tender. I wonder if they brine it a day before. Korean fried chicken is touted on its double fried method, but it can get oily. I prefer Kuku’s method. Whatever they’re doing, they’re doing it right.
With 36 poppers, it came with two sauces—I went for the honey mustard and bleu cheese. It didn’t end up being enough for all the chicken, so next time I’ll pick up some of their other options (spicy garlic and chipotle crema in particular). The amount of sauce was a bit small, but I think they want to sell more. Get extra sauce if you like it.
An absolute must try for any fried chicken lovers visiting, or...
Read moreAfter Mu Ramen it had very big shoes to fill and as a fan of MU ramen I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately was quite disappointed. It's essentially a fast food joint masquerading trying to appear more upscale than it is but failing on both counts.. Unlike a fast food restaurant, you get one tiny tissue and one tiny wet cloth with a messy order of wings, there's only soft drinks on the menu and the price is too high. For it to be considered more upscale the food quality simply isn't there - the signature sweet & spicy glaze wings were actually dry inside and smothered in synthetic tasting sauce rather than being properly marinated. The waffle fries tasted like they're just done from frozen. And I can't comment on the kimchi because I never got it even thought it was part of my order. Moreover, even if you dine in your food gets delivered in paper boxes and plastic containers for sauces with plastic utensils - what's even the point of having a dine in area if you make it feel like you're eating take-out? Not surprisingly I was the only customer there at...
