UPDATED
Excellent place, very personal service and I spoke to a person there Jennifer who is kind with her time and explain to me a lot of the elements of the place. This is my second time here in two days and I definitely recommend learning how to order because there are probably some right ways to do it and some wrong ways to do it so I think there's a learning curve and there are different things that you might or might not like so I think the next time I will be better off in terms of choosing something that will be perfect. This is a great place and you get a lot of food and there's a lot of options to choose from, and the app works very well. It's a very good situation. I think some tutorials would help because it's a lot to process but this is a great place and I definitely will be coming back. I created a new spot here called pita corner so that's what this is it's a magical spot, so enjoy.
ORIGINAL REVIEW
YES I thought it was really good and it's an excellent system. That being said, I was a little upset as a first-time visitor how difficult it is to process something that could be more simply explained. There's an offer as well for $5 discount if you sign up for the app which will make it easier for you to order. The display is clear but the numbers confuse the fact that you get a free options of your choice from the list as well as have the option for paying additionally for a different set. I thought it was delicious and I loved what they offer. It's a cute little store and basically a little bit challenging to find because it's tucked away nicely. One thing that stood out is the fact that they offer water. That is rare. I was tired at the time and it was difficult to figure out the system and I spoke to someone there and he understood how I thought the sign could be improved. It's not the role of someone working there to listen to every little thought of another person but I am a top reviewer and I elevate local businesses so I was impressed with the responsiveness of the people there to listen to my thoughts. I thought the falafel was great and I loved all the toppings it's just really sensational amidst lots of unhealthy choices one could have gotten nearby by not going there. So I will definitely be going back and signing up for the app and I really think this is a place to consider as well as several other people told me it's great. I definitely think they have something here and I think with a few simple refinements it can really be a very strong offering and it basically already is. I think that many places are reticent to offer water so I definitely think this is a pretty strong recommend if not basically a strong recommend. I will update this review the next time I go. Check it out if you like and enjoy. Have...
Read moreSadly, Taïm has noticeably gone downhill in the last year or so. I previously wrote a 5 star review, but after a recent visit, I was quite disappointed.
When the menu first got revamped, allowing for more customization, I was incredibly impressed. The falafel bowls were really delicious, and I felt like you got a lot for your money.
I’d been away for most of the last year, and was excited to have Taïm soon after arriving back in New York. The bowl has been reduced to a rather small plate, and the price has increased quite a bit as well. I understand that price increases are happening everywhere, but the serving size being significant reduced as well is an issue.
THE BIGGEST ISSUE is how small the falafels have gotten. The ones I got seemed to be 80% crust and 20% filling. I’m really disappointed because Taïm used to have the best falafel in the village. Another thing that really bothered me was how poorly cooked the couscous was. A lot of the pearls were so hard to the point that I could’ve chipped a tooth if I bit down hard enough.
I personally think this is a product of their fairly rapid expansion, which has clearly made quality control difficult to manage. With some new competition in the neighborhood, I really have no reason to come...
Read moreAbout a week deep and ~7 salads into my refined carb "cleanse", I had a craving. Yes, I wanted a giant bowl of pasta topped with rice and pizza and lasagna and drenched with congee, but I also just craved a different flavor profile to what I'd been engineering - and let's be real, I just wanted someone else to cook. Enter, Taim.
Cauliflower platter was on point, which is hard to do despite the best efforts of many up and down the culinary hierarchy. Taim more than held their own with their as-I-like al dente perfection. Everything else in the platter (Israeli salad, pickled cabbage, hummus) was excellent and totally worth ordering individually as a side dish if you aren't in the market for the platter. Sadly, I set the incredible-smelling Za'atar pita aside to be devoured with glee by my dining mate. Don't feel too bad for me: there was a mixed bag of three harissa and three traditional falafel waiting, sans greasy mess, with an elegant side bath of tahini goodness. The S'rug, the incredible accompaniment sauce of many names, was the real star of the show - flavorful with a kick that complements rather than overpowers.
This perfect, totally-responsible-within-dietary-parameters meal satisfied all my cravings in one go. My rec? Taim...
