Preface: this is a review based on delivery from Ubereats, but I plan to visit in person soon.
I never leave reviews for places, but I feel compelled to leave a review for Thai Market. My mom is Thai and a phenomenal cook. After moving away from home, I almost NEVER bother to get Thai food at a restaurant, because most of it is Americanized and disappointing. If I want good Thai food, I’m usually resigned to making it myself.
That gets hard when you have a long day at the office and don’t have time to go to an Asian grocery store to get everything you need if you’re having a craving for Thai.
Thai Market popped up and seemed to have good reviews so I ordered the larb and green curry. I really just craved good green curry, but ordered the larb because most places list it as a salad and they don’t include sticky rice or romaine leaves, which is how I’ve eaten it growing up both when my mom had made it and whenever we were in Thailand during the summers.
The green curry was pretty good, but the larb…I actually teared up eating it because it tasted just like my mom’s and it reminded me of home. I was truly taken aback because I’m used to Thai restaurant larb being too mild or too sweet. It was perfect!
I’ll have to try other dishes, but for now, the larb is just too reminiscent of my childhood that I can’t help but want to eat it all the time. The romaine is fresh and not wilted at all, and the sticky rice is the perfect cooked, way better than any of my attempts to make sticky rice on my own, that’s for sure.
If you want really authentic larb and slightly more authentic green curry, then this is the place to go. My biggest disappointment with the green curry was the lack of Thai eggplant and the inclusion of bell peppers. I’m used to two types of Thai eggplant, bamboo, and basil leaves being the main components aside from the curry. Thai eggplant gives a different texture to the dish that the eggplant they use doesn’t, and that it’s my favorite part. The taste is on point, but I really missed the medium round Thai eggplant and the tinier round green eggplant.
I’m looking forward to trying their version of Nam Tok, because that is one of my...
Read moreCasual Thai but really delicious food! Husband and I were looking to try a new Thai place after our movie date last Saturday and this was one that showed up nearby that we thought was worth trying. I started off with Thai iced tea and we also ordered a glass of Rose. Started off with Chicken Satay and it was delicious, only thing I noticed was it was only 3 sticks while other places had at least 4 sticks. For entrees, we ordered their Crab Fried Rice to share and we also shared the Pad Thai and Red Curry Beef. All three were fantastic. Again, my bar for Thai food is set really high because I've traveled to Thailand many times and love Thai food so much that I decided to study a Thai Culinary course with the very best Chefs in Bangkok. That being said, the Crab Fried Rice was so delicious and they were generous with real and fresh crab meat. So worth it! The Pad Thai was very good. And the Red Curry Beef while not necessarily in the menu and they gladly offered to make for me, was very good. I still think it could have been more spicy because I already asked for it but I guess they'll always hold back in a healthy way, and I'm speaking across all Thai restaurants that I've eaten in here so far. As for the finale, the mango sticky rice was easily one of the best that I've had! I especially love that they have that coconut milk/cream on the side which is really the perfect way to do it. 4.5 out of 5. I can see us becoming regulars here. The only thing I truly wish they can take into consideration and improve on are their plates. I understand the overall feel from the menu to the plates are old/traditional Thai but the plates do not seem that polished and some are chipped on the sides. Other than that, they definitely won us over....
Read moreThis place was chosen by my partner. It's the first time he chooses a new cuisine (to him) restaurant. I have had Thai food twice in the past, but the variety of plates here was incredibly big comparing to the other restaurants I've been to.
We had for appetizers *Spring Roll, which comes with sweet and sour sauce, and *Calamari, accompanied with a sweet spicy sauce. Both were extremely delicious. Don't have any complaints.
For Entree we shared Skirt Steak and Gra Prow Kai Dow, both plates were delicious and super spicy. I was not aware their food was sooooooo freaking spicy. My partner is just training me how to eat/kinda handle Spicy food but theirs was on another level.
My mouth was on fire all night long but have to say, it was very delicious. I would eat hothot spicyspicy food if it was there again.
Only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because the place is too tiny for the amount of people that come here. We made reservations through Yelp, when we got to the restaurant there were still 3 people* (groups) ahead of us and there was literally no place for us to stand, sit or simply wait. We were all scattered around the bar, the entrance, the host station, etc.
There is no privacy whatsoever, the tables are literally next to each other, not in a good way.
I would like to see this restaurant getting a bigger location so that it can be more intimate, if that is ever an option.
Food was incredibly delicious and I would definitely go back...
