Before you dine, keep in mind, this is not really Korean food, I want to say it’s Thai/Chinese’s take on Korean Food. Yes, they have similar ingredients but the tastes are not like your traditional Korean food… the owner is Chinese, and since he didn’t speak any English, it was very difficult to ask him any questions about the food. And when I google Thaihee - there is a location in the UK, dishes look the same. . We got the Nabe Set Meal for 2 $45.95- comes with: -2 scoops of chilled mashed potato’s topped with pork floss and seaweed - this was good, nothing spectacular, I thought it was a tad on the small side -Colorful Tuna and seaweed bibimbap - they really load up on the toppings. Im not complaining about the ingredients, although the bokchoy and zucchini could have been cut into smaller pieces. But man, the sauce they had in it was very good. Tastes like unagi sauce. It was enough sauce to coat each and every grain. -Angus Snowflake beef hotpot - this was very good, the broth was a soy sauce based but not overly salty. Once again, they load up on the ingredients, like lettuce, fish cake, rice cake, seaweed, red onions and vermicelli. I would prefer some cabbage but in understand it takes awhile to cook. -2 soft drinks . In all, we were very impressed with our meal and we are looking forward to trying more of their menu items. . Because they are in their soft opening phase, they have some promos going on, we got 12% off our meal. Oh, and try to go early during this time because our first attempt on a Friday evening at 8pm, the food was sold out.. . Oh, don’t sleep on their kimchi, it was very good. More on the new than preserved side, which I...
Read moreMy expectations going into this restaurant was for Korean food. After receiving a single side dish of Kimchi and trying it, I was highly disappointed to say the least (that should’ve been our cue to up and leave the restaurant).
After some time we decided to order a Combo 5 to share; which came with two of their “signature dishes” the Spicy Beef Stew, and Dried Pork flake kimbap. And she ordered the seafood tofu noodle. Everything that came out did not taste like Korean food but rather just Chinese food with a Korean spin.
The Spicy Beef Stew was on the sweeter side, came with very a small amount beef and the beef was shredded almost like the taste of the dried pork flake, a couple of glass noodles, tofu and a bunch of fish cakes. You would think there would be more beef … highly disappointed again to say the least. Not to mention the kimbap was very dry, and the dried pork flake really over powers the entirety of the kimbap felt like I was just eating dried pork flakes.
The seafood tofu noodle was definitely worth getting. It was savory, came with Udons, clams, shrimp, mussels, fish cakes, tofu and enoki mushrooms. Unfortunately, you might get some bits and pieces of sand, but it was definitely better than the combo we got.
Although this place didn’t meet our expectations of Korean food I think it’s worth trying at least one or two items on the menu. But don’t expect to taste any Korean flavoring food, try your...
Read moreI ate here with my wife and I wish we never came here. We took a chance on it even after seeing the reviews.
I ordered the taehee sirloin steak with rice, my wife ordered the Angus snowflake beef hotpot, and we shared the teriyaki unagi kimbap. My steak was overcooked, and mostly tasteless, it was okay. A sauce jumped and burned my finger as I was cutting it because the plate was still very hot and the waitress was nice to bring some ice for me. My wife's Angus snowflake hotpot however was horrible. The soup smelled and tasted like ketchup. The eel on the roll was slimy and there was pork floss in the roll. Pork floss doesnt go well in this.
My wife couldn't eat her hotpot because of the ketchup flavor and I got an inflamed stomach for eating my steak thing. Overall a bad experience. The restaurant was...
