Keep reading for a catastrophe of an experience I had here today but TLDR: The reception staff was beyond rude and unprofessional and don't care for the well being of their tenants. DURING A PANDEMIC. The lady working at the first floor reception desk at 3:55pm 5/3/20 should be fired for putting the tenants life at risk. I can't imagine anyone enjoying living here for expensive rent and what I imagine to be extremely rude management.
Today I had to visit this place to deliver supplies to a sick tenant during the Covid-19 pandemic. Mind you, I wasn't the delivery person, I was a by-passer on my way home when the delivery partner stopped me asking if I understood Chinese. The tenant spoke Chinese and the delivery person couldn't understand. But the catastrophe I met with at the lobby was so rude I almost dropped the box and walked out.
The ONLY reason I pushed on through to get this delivery through was because the tenant was sick and I truly believe we should be helping each other; not getting in each others way.
When I arrived at the door I explained to the lady at the door that his food was here and that it needed to be sent to him. I expected to be told how to get the food to him or if I was supposed to leave it with her as apartment policy. Instead, she looked at me and said in Chinese "so what exactly is your purpose here?". Not only was this incredibly rude as I'm literally standing there with a box of food supplies, she's looking at me like some terrorist with a bomb in my hands. So I tell her that the tenant on the phone had told me the apartment has policies in place to deliver food to sick tenants and that I could just leave it with the lobby. This wasn't actually the full policy, what he meant was that the lobby on the higher floor would deliver it to him but I didn't know this. Instead of telling me, she just told me "no we don't bring the food to them". and continued to stare at me. I'm not sure if I could have communicated any more clearly but it seemed like she just didn't listen to anything I said. At this point I should have left but I felt bad for the man living in his apartment too sick to buy food so I pushed on ahead and the lady grudgingly let me in and told me to write down my name and address. She specifically told me in Chinese "write your name and address" So I asked her in confusion, "my address?". It seemed odd to me they would care what my address was, and even stranger they would want the address of the building I was literally standing in. Then she exasperatedly responds, "no the room number of the person you're delivering to!" After finally signing in, she asks me if I know how to get to the room and I tell her it's my first time there and there are three towers in this complex so, no. She exasperatedly speeds through the instructions of how to get there as if she's in a rapping competition and literally waves me off without even looking at me this entire time.
Mind you, I am a nobody in this whole affair. All I wanted was to do something nice for a sick man because he only spoke Chinese and I had to face this 15 minute interrogation with the front desk lady. The ONLY reason I pushed through with the delivery was because I knew he needed supplies if he was sick and if I gave up, he would probably be left to starve. It's unbelievable how rude and unprofessional the...
Read moreIt's crazy that this crapshot of a complex is advertised as a 'luxury condo.' For one, the whole place is situated between the government housing, a foul smelling body of water, and the obnoxiously loud 7 train. The decors of tower 123 are straight out of the 1980s; hard to believe the buildings are still relatively young being built in the 2010s.
The management team here is lazy and unprofessional. There is (at least) one doorman here who gossips way too much about the tenants. My first week in the building and he was already telling me about how crappy the previous tenants are and how they're shady people. That just completely unprofessional and pretty much reflects the management team as a whole.
After moving in, good luck trying to even enter your apartment here, because your key fob for the most part won't work despite needing it for THREE layers of security to enter your apartment. (The front entrance after 10, the elevator 24 hrs, and your own building 24 hrs.) So when you try to get your key fob fixed, (cause it will stop working for errors on the management's side,) it may take weeks or even months (they WILL lose your application sheet, etc.) and multiple attempts. After speaking to the doorman, I was told that the management is supposed to take care of key fob issues, but since they're so lazy, they hand over the responsibility to a person who only works for like 2-3 days a week. It's crazy, because you can't even enter your own building.
Also, normal nonluxury apartment buildings with one super can sort out garbage; but the huge management/janitorial team here can't take apart boxes and will bill you $200 for leaving one un-flattened box. I've lived in apartments in the city where throwing out furniture in the disposal room wasn't an issue. But nope, not here, one box is simply too much for them.
Employees here will even make up rules as they fit. (I’ve asked for the house rules from managements to make sure they were made up.)
Also, let’s not forget to mention that there are roof leakage issues. And cockroaches seen in the hallways.
The price point for Skyview at this point is almost on par with the luxury condos in the city. But the management and building here truly just do...

EVERYTHING costs money. The condo lease application fee is $550. Lease renewal is $350. The average rental application fees for the Flushing area is usually $20 to $300.
There's a $1000 "security deposit" (you ain't getting that back) to move in or out if you're using the loading dock elevators. There's also a $50 hourly fee to pay the workers to open the back doors for you. Don't go over 2 hours since they'll be a $200 fine. No the workers won't be helping you move, they're just there to open the doors.
Unless you have one or two very small suitcases, you're going to need the loading dock elevators because the front desk will stop you from moving anything larger.
If your boxes aren't folded properly before disposing of them, you will get fined a few hundred dollars. Really? That's probably more than the contents of the package.
Your curtains have to be beige or off-white, or you risk being fined.
Clean up after your pets or you'll be fined (this one's reasonable)
You get a key fob to enter the building. That fob will have your picture in the programming, so don't bother lending it to a friend. No it cannot be copied.
For the price of a one bedroom in this complex, you can get a two or three bedroom in the same neighborhood.
Yes the supermarket and mall is downstairs. But it's New York, where shopping is always within walking distance. Not much of a perk...
