A Promising Menu Undermined by Poor Service
My recent dining experience at Sichuan Cuisine was a rollercoaster of culinary highs and service lows. The menu promised much, and the flavors delivered, but the service left a lot to be desired.
We began our meal with two appetizers, which were delightful, setting high expectations for the rest of the evening. For our main course, we opted for a fish dish, though we were promptly informed that a key ingredient was unavailable. We appreciated the transparency and assured the staff that they could substitute with whatever was convenient.
However, this is where the experience took a downward turn. After a 30-minute wait, we inquired about our fish dish. An employee disappeared to consult with the chef but never returned with an update. After an additional 15 minutes of waiting, I noticed a staff member in a white shirt stationed at the computer counter. Upon approaching him, he revealed that due to the missing ingredient, our fish dish had never actually been entered into their system. He apologized for the oversight, assuring us the dish would be ready in just five minutes.
In the end, we waited 45 minutes for a dish that took only five minutes to prepare. The food, when it finally arrived, was delicious, maintaining the quality we had anticipated. Yet, the service was lackluster at best, with little to no follow-up from the staff throughout our wait. The lack of communication and attentiveness overshadowed what could have been a fantastic dining experience.
Overall, while the food was commendable, the service needs significant improvement to match the quality coming out of...
Read moreTai er is very much excellent. Sauerkraut fish is something new to me, however it turned out to be amazing. Everything from the signature dish turned out to be amazing. A amazing blend of soup, fish and sauerkraut. The soup was rich fatty and delicious but had nice level of peppers to keep things spicy and interesting. The fish was tender, meaty and umai. The sauerkraut as well, was amazing. I really sort of discovered it truly in the end of the dish but the fermented cabbage had unique and delicious taste, a real strong sense of fermentation.
Essentially its a sour and spicy dish. It does not have the vinegar of your typical hot and sour however it doesn't not need. It works because the spice really cuts into the fat and sour, elevating the whole experience.
I also got the lemonade which was a treat. It was a nice pairing to the spicy dish and fatty dish of the signature.
Entering was a breeze. Ordering was a breeze via the QR code. The service was great and did speak English (which is a plus for me). The environment was nice as well, clean as whistle and fun to look but also relatively relaxing.
Leaving was also great. The restaurant gives really nice take home bags and containers. You can easily over order here but honestly its worth it.
I could easily taking someone who loves Chinese but has never had the sauerkraut fish before and would...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at the Tai Er in Flushing, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The 酸菜鱼 was a true standout - a perfect blend of spicy and sour flavors that left my taste buds tingling with delight. The tangy sourness from the sauerkraut combined with the kick of Sichuan peppercorn and other spices created a harmonious explosion of taste that was simply addicting.
The highlight of the experience was when I paired the sauerkraut fish and its flavorful soup with a bed of rice. The resulting symphony of flavors was nothing short of spectacular. Each bite was a culinary adventure, and I found myself savoring every moment.
To start off the meal, the appetizer platter featuring chicken wings, French fries, shrimp chips, and fried shrimp was a perfect introduction to what turned out to be a gastronomic journey. The variety and quality of the appetizers showcased the kitchen's attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
Overall, my dining experience at the sauerkraut fish restaurant was one to remember. From the exquisite sauerkraut fish dish to the delectable appetizer platter, every bite was a celebration of flavors. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a culinary adventure that will leave you...
