Emperor Dumpling 🥟 could also be named Dumpling Heaven! Great asian fusion take out/ dine in restaurant on 28th and 6th.

I dined here tonight for a casual dinner with a friend after work tonight and had a great experience!

My friend is pescatarian so we tried the delicious fish and vegetarian options on the menu, but I will definitely be back for the pork fried pork and celery dumplings (they smelled SO good) and the beef noodles which also looked really good at the table next to me. I was drooling so much that my friend said she wouldn’t mind if I ate the beef in front of her- but I was honestly so full from the generous portion sizes, I didn’t have any room left!

Which is why I will come back for peach 🍑 bubble tea and the beef pan fried noodles and pork dumplings.

Okay enough planning the next meal, back to what we actually ate LOL

It’s named Emperor Dumpling so of course we had to start with 🥟!

Both orders (steamed shrimp Dumplings and pan fried vegetable dumpling) arrived hot and steaming! Perks of a smaller restaurant.

The pan fried vegetable dumplings 🥟 🥦 🥕 🥟 were SO delicious! Perfectly crispy on the outside and flavorful and soft on the inside. The kind owner said they are made in house each day, and they have 10 different types of vegetables inside. Super tasty! I am sorry to have eaten them too quickly to take a picture of the inside!

We also had the steamed shrimp 🍤 dumplings which arrived steaming with two sauces- the spicy one was especially tasty! Just make sure you mix it before eating! Also saw the house pan fried shrimp pork mushroom dumplings- and I am coming back for them and the pan fried pork and celery dumplings!

These dim sum taste really fresh and clearly homemade. I asked anyway to confirm, and the very polite owner - very Confucius like himself said that all of the dumplings are homemade on site except for the non house shrimp dumplings.

Next we had the salmon teriyaki with steam white rice $12.95 It was a generous portion of salmon and came with bok choy as well as white rice. Very tasty teriyaki sauce, the salmon was well cooked and well seasoned. The other half will be my lunch tomorrow!!! $12.95 is a very reasonable price for this large portion, and I would DEFINITELY recommend for a lunch choice.

We also had the pan fried vegetable lo mein noodles which were super tasty. Again a very generous portion of both noodles and vegetables. It was very clearly made with fresh vegetables and not frozen ones like I see in many lo mein and fried rice dishes these days. I think it makes all the difference to use fresh veggies, which is why I will definitely be coming back to Emperor Dumpling. It was also reasonably priced at $13.95 and would easily feed 2 or 3 people.

All in all, was a great experience for a causal and unassuming restaurant on 28th and 6th ave. I am relieved to have a new spot for the next time I am in midtown and desperate to refuel for lunch - and want something satisfying but not too unhealthy, Emperor Dumpling will be my choice!

The location is very convenient to Herald Square/34th street A/B/C/D trains as well as the 1 train which my friend took to meet me.

This is a very underrated spot I feel and if I were closer I would probably order here a bit more often.

The name of the business is very catchy and the place was recommended to me previously. Due to scheduling, I could only visit after work. The establishment is larger than your average take out restaurant with more seating as well. That is when I had decided to eat in instead of taking the food to go. This place seems to be very popular for pick ups/take out and when I saw how extensive the menu is, I was quite taken aback. This is certainly not your average take out Chinese restaurant.

First and foremost, I came for the dumplings! I went with the popular steamed pork and chive and then added on some pan fried beef filled ones to supplement. The dumplings were very plump and tasty. The fried ones had a nice crispiness to them.

The menu had salmon teriyaki with white rice and I was curious and hungry at the same time. It was a nice complement to the dumplings. The teriyaki sauce was similar to other restaurants with its savoriness and the salmon was cooked well. It was a very filling combo that I was glad I had ordered because a nice rice dish is always one of my comfort foods.

I noticed they had Vietnamese Pho on the menu and gave it a try. The portion size for eating in I was not prepared for. The beef and broth was flavorful and there were also fish balls included with the rice noodles. It was a lot of food for one person so I ate part of the pho and packed the rest to eat later.

So this not being your standard takeout restaurant, they had a dessert menu and anyone who knows me knows that I always have to try a dessert or two if they have it on the menu. Two of the desserts that caught my eye were the Coconut and Orange riepino. Each sorbet was served in its respective natural fruit shell. The coconut was flavor I feel is not too popular but I always liked its distinct flavor. The orange was very refreshing. If you eat in, most definitely try a dessert.

The older gentleman who was there during my visit was super helpful with recommendations and checked on me throughout my visit. As I had stated earlier, this would most certainly be one of my everyday go to spots if I...

I ordered almost 60 dollars worth of food, they brought me my order around 5 minutes later, all in paper containers with plastic lids even though I was dining in. The food is expensive, yet they don't have real plates and utensils.

I was skeptical because the food came so quickly, but gave it a try anyway. Not only was all of the food cold, I nearly choked on a small piece of plastic that was inside my rice bowl.

The sesame chicken I paid 17 dollars for was cold and dry. For a place called emperor dumpling, the dumplings were the worst part of the meal. Cold, slimy and clearly not fresh.

I can't believe I paid almost 60 dollars for cold, dry food with plastic in it. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place.

The only positives is that the music they played was great and the front counter lady was nice, everything else was extremely...

If I lived in NYC, I'd eat here often. I was on a work trip & staying at a nearby hotel. This small eatery is within a short walk. I was craving Asian food, & this hit the spot. Menu is extensive. I ordered the pork & bok choy dumplings steamed, roasted duck with bok choy & white rice, & a lychee milk tea with boba (asked for it to be made less sweet). All of it was delicious! And my order came with sauces that perfectly complimented my food. I dined in, & the atmosphere is chill. I appreciated the calm music playing & the TV overhead playing vacation scenes of lovely beaches in Bali & Tahiti. The dining area is small but sufficient. The staff is friendly & service is quick. Prices are reasonable. I paid a little over $30 for what I ordered. Highly recommend!
