I hesitate to review because it’s small and in the Village and I fear it won’t talk long before there are lines out the door to eat here, it’s that good.
Having said that, this is owned by a family, passionate in their business. They have literally built it by hand; their son Max describes how the family labored over every aspect of the interior.
The pizza- MAGNIFICENT. Do not hesitate to try the pepperoni with honey. Yes, they squeeze honey from a friend’s bee farm upstate onto your pizza. The effect is indescribable. No, it’s not sweet, but actually brings out the flavor of the pepperoni in such a delicate way. The dough is perfect; not too light, not too dense. They only sell pies, but the pies are not like your typical “slice joints” so it’s not huge.
I am already planning to go back to try other pizzas, but I confess I might not be able to break away from that pepperoni and honey combo!
Bonus: they have a cozy back patio where they grow basil and tomatoes and whatnot with two picnic tables. It’s adorable.
Go, before the influencers splash it all over TikTok and the place is filled with the people from the Crumbl...
Read moreThese days everyone has gluten free pizza, and most of it really sucks. Not the case at The Pizza Box.
Here they make their own Detroit style gluten free dough fresh every day (not your typical frozen puck). They keep them in their own pans for rising and baking so there’s no cross contamination from the pizza oven, and they top them with all the same farm fresh ingredients you can get on their classic pie.
I loved my prosciutto and arugula white pie, which was loaded with toppings and drizzled with some fig balsamic. Because Detroit style pizza is baked in a pan the cheese pools a little on the outside and gets brown and crispy, a real treat. The dough itself is light and fluffy and doesn’t make you miss the gluten at all.
I came on a Tuesday night for trivia and had a blast. I was alone for dinner, but as the place filled up I made some new friends and joined a team. You could tell that everyone there was having a great time and it was really nice to be playing trivia with fun pizzeria vibes rather than in a dark...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal fan since I had my very first pizza of theirs upstate at a local charity event the Pizza Box truck appeared at.
Mike, Melanie, and Max have since been mastering their craft. Now, we are all beneficiaries of their pursuit of the perfect pizza and a strong commitment to quality ingredients.
I was so happy to be invited to the pre-opening event to see the new store. It’s an incredible space, has a backyard area with a live garden, and a lovely little general store. Nice touches everywhere.
The pizza is…. AMAZING! My personal favorite is the pepperoni with drizzled garlic infused honey. It’s been a few days since I’ve had it and I cannot stop thinking about how good it is. A close second is the Fiacco sausage pizza. There are no misses on this menu, they are all delicious.
Good luck Pizza Box NY!!! So glad you’re a little closer to home and that we can enjoy all year-round. And special thanks for making us part of...
