After having a horrible day I came to the protein bakery to try some of their low sugar options (as I am keto). The place was highly recommended and I have been trying to get here for a month. Upon entering, I was informed that their low carb option are in fact not nearly as low carb. In fact, when I mentioned that they weren't low carb for keto, he informed me that my diet was unhealthy. Never have I ever felt judged for being a low carb person. Yes, I understand that you prioritize protein and healthy ingredients, what I don't appreciate is the way that you speak to me when I'm trying to be a customer. If you're going to do something low sugar, you might as well appease the masses and make it completely low carb. I bought an item to try it, and give him a shot, but being keto I can literally only eat half of the measly tiny cookies.
I understand what you're trying to do with the healthy baked goods. And I understand that keto never worked for you, but it works for some of us. As well as my friends that are celiac. So if you're going to label it as keto, please actually make it keto.
Let me tell you, I did in fact try the cookie. I took one bite it and the aftertaste was horrible so I threw it out.
Side note to sugar-free people. He sweetens everything with malitol, he told me this before I bought it. I recommended he switched to erythritol. So if you eat the cookies, they're literally a diuretic. You've...
Read moreKudos to the bakery making something healthy for everyone. However you shouldn't use the term Keto for products that have "low carbs" and "low sugar". Anything with sugar and, I would say substantial carbs, is not Ketogenic. I really don't want this word "Keto" to turn into another marketing term giving the illusion that it is for people doing Keto when it is not. Think of brands that use the term "natural" to mean it's organic when it's not. People not knowledgeable in how the Ketogenic lifestyle works will be snapped out of Ketosis because your low -carb products have too much net carbs per piece and definitely having sugar per piece. I'm sure you are well intentioned but you need to do more research before calling something Keto. You could just say it's low-carb or low-sugar but you can't use Keto if it's not. And just to give you an idea, typically 15grams or less of carbs per day for food in general is acceptable but I usually go for zero to 5 grams of carbs for more efficacy. But it needs to be absolutely zero sugar. You can use sweeteners (which is different from sugar) such as monkfruit or erithrytol which is sweeter than sugar in taste but scores 0 on the glycemic index and that is essential for Ketosis to set in.
I hope this...
