This dinner is our go to every time we visit NYC. It has the old-school charm that wins us over year after year. It is a special place to go back in time.

The Reuben sandwich at Peter McManus Cafe is often regarded as one of the highlights of their menu. Packed with flavorful corned beef, tangy sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing, it's a classic combination that hits all the right notes. The fantastic taste of their Reuben sandwich is a testament to the care and quality they put into their food.

One of the standout aspects of Peter McManus Cafe is its genuine dive bar atmosphere. The establishment exudes a nostalgic charm that takes you back in time to the old days of New York City. This authentic ambiance adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience, making it a memorable visit for both locals and tourists alike.

It's great to hear that you make it a point to visit Peter McManus Cafe every time you're in NYC. Consistency is often a hallmark of excellent establishments, and your loyalty speaks volumes about the quality they consistently deliver.

Overall, if you're seeking a dive bar experience with delicious food, Peter McManus Cafe is a fantastic choice. I read the response from the management of this bar and while I appreciate the offer to give this place a second chance, there is no way I am going to return after my initial horrible experience; I just can’t take the chance of a repeat! Thanks anyway. ...Stopped in fairly early on St. Patrick’s Day afternoon to a very crowded and loud bar with a very unfriendly sounding bartender; a well drink is nine dollars and they have a $25 minimum even for blind people who can’t use cash! Certainly not spending a dollar in this dump!! This is a very unfriendly atmosphere for the blind and other disabled people; I highly recommend that anyone in such a condition avoid this location! By the way, this is the first time in my 40sseven years that I have entered a bar and not ordered anything due to the...

The real New York.

Called in here for a break after a day of walking around the Village. Loved it. It was pretty much deserted when we got there but the bar tender was still on it, attentive and friendly, going about his jobs until we were ready to order.

The place is what I dearly love about New York. Not trying to be anything it isn't (nobody in their right mind could call it flashy!), but oozing character, history, charm, you can only imagine the tales from here if you're lucky enough to be a regular.

A snippet of genuine, American/Irish authenticity in the ever growing sea of fake not too far from here.

We had food and drinks, all of which were great. Thanks to Brian for the great service and the conversation. Another one for the memory...

Peter McManus Cafe Est. 1936 Layout/atmosphere *Irish pub; long, wooden, worn in bar (old fashioned cash register; stained glass liquor cabinets); tables to left of bar; Internet jukebox; golf arcade game; phone booths; two TVs; booths in back; old photos/newspaper clippings on the wall; wooden table with umbrella on sidewalk Food/drink *13 taps including Guinness *Cheeseburger (1/2 lb beef patty on sesame seed bun with lettuce, tomato, red onion & pickle on the side) with Swiss cheese & bacon (with steak fries) - Good; no frills, solid bar burger; fries were on the same level

I visited this family owned establishment for the first time today. I just love these old fashioned Irish Pubs that serve not only great drinks, but great food as well. My Margarita was absolutely beautiful in every sense of the word. My Classic Cheeseburger was cooked to perfection. Even though it was well done, the wonderful juices just flowed from the burger with every bite. The overall appearance is a bit worn and outdated, but that doesn't take away from the outstanding service you receive from the staff. I will definitely be back again the next time I am in the area.
