TIGER SUGAR BAKERY 泡芙專賣 (5903 8th Ave) — Restaurant in New York

One of the worst drinks I’ve ever purchased. I ordered a Premium Fresh Taro Latte around 7 PM, and the experience was frustrating from the start. The girl at the counter with black hair seemed confused when I mentioned the drink, so I pointed it out to her on the iPad. She then responded with an “oh yes” as if she recognized it, so I went ahead and paid.

About 10 minutes later, I received a text from Tiger Sugar saying my order was ready but it clearly wasn’t. When I looked toward the kitchen, the girl with a black hair and another blonde girl were chatting, laughing, and not preparing anything. I initially assumed maybe the blonde was in training, so I stayed patient.

After another 5 minutes passed, it became clear neither of them knew how to make the drink. I saw them just putting taro into a cup and hesitating. They looked unsure of what to do next. Eventually, they added milk and ice, taped it up, and handed it to me.

I only got to try it in the car, and unfortunately, it was exactly what I feared…just taro, milk, and ice. No flavor, no sweetness, no thought. It was honestly undrinkable. All that for $9.

To management: I hope you take a closer look at how your staff are being trained. These two employees — the black-haired girl at the counter and the blonde girl in the kitchen seemed completely unprepared to handle even a single order. I was the only customer there, yet it took them 15 minutes to make one poorly executed drink.

Very disappointing for a well-known brand.

40 minute wait at 2PM on a Sunday. Not too bad considering it was probably over an hour when it first opened in Flushing and 8ave. For now, it seems the 8ave store is limiting orders to 6 drinks, and you can see plenty of people reaching that limit.

We ordered the top two recommended items, Black Sugar Boba Milk with Cream mousse and Black Sugar Boba + Pearl with Cream mousse. While waiting, they also had their shipment of milk (horizon organic, so it's pretty decent quality). The brown sugar flavor was a little different from normal sugar and gave the milk an unique flavor that normal milk tea doesn't have. I couldn't spot what they meant by cream mousse -- there wasn't any creamy, moussey thing there. The boba was some of the best I've ever had, wonderfully soft and flavorful.

If the wait was shorter, then would've been a five. I just can't really see the hype and justify doing this wait again for what I've had. It wasn't bad, it definitely was above average, but not worth it for me to wait...

The milk tea and boba is delicious, love how you cook it right before handing it. The wait I'm fine with, it's only natural for such demand. However, there are smokers right outside the queue!! The line stopped right next to the smoker and that was 5 minutes of hell. I squeezed my nose as hard as I could and started having trouble breathing. The line manager was even worse, she couldn't take a single hint that people were smoking. I was the next person before entering the store, and I see a perfectly available spot, so after 3 minutes I ask her if she could let me in the store first and she straight up declines having no clue that there's a smoker suffocating me. Please teach the line manager to take a couple hints and have some kind of no smoking sign outside as well. I also have no clue why so many smokers next to a bubble tea store, like they want to smoke out the line...
