Upside Pizza — Restaurant in New York

The person taking the order were very friendly. All the workers making the pizza were friendly. The person at the register, not too friendly. The cheese pizza was amazing. Sicilian upside down pie was not that great. We all made one order, then decided why not make another order. So in total we had 8 different types of things. I did asked for extra cheese on 2 slices, but they told me that it was not allowed. Which made no sense, when I am able to pay the difference. That wasn't the big issue. Everything was going great. Until the owner assumed that everyone on our table were together. When we first came. There was a table with 5 chairs. Someone asks to sit with us, its fine we love meeting new people. Like 4 mins before us leaving, he apparently thought that everyone sitting with me were together but one person was not. We were eating and enjoying the outdoors. He came to our table and asked for the chair that we all had our bags on. He was very sarcastic. He stated "They clean my shop everyday, and we keep it clean". We were not sitting in the shop we were sitting outside. He was letting us know the chair was cleaner than our bags. Then he looks at the African American man that was sitting on our table, and said " thank You for using the chair" wow...... The bags were not his, he was being nice and moving them off the chair for us becausehe sat with us. That is Unacceptable. 1) The owner assumed that we put the extra chair there, just for all the bags. Whoever was there, prior to us had moved the chairs to that table. 2) To speak down to someone that was not his race. And the young man sitting with us, was very nice. He was a teacher. 3) To state that our bags were able be set on the sidewalk. When he walked away with the chair, we all just looked in disbelieve. This is the best pizza in the world the best service and the at times if I have no money they know me cuz I live in the neighborhood but they won't charge me and if you really don't have any money though give first-timers a freebie or a discount but don't take advantage of these people they work very hard and every pizza place say they have the best pizza don't get the square pizzas get the traditional triangle ones and I recommend dabbing it with some napkins cuz it's a little bit over greasy unless you like that by myself am a Dabber I don't like too much grease on my pizza personally other than that I could eat three to four slices and this place serves beer no liquor they have unique beers in cans from a broad in the refrigerator and they have a couple of taps the basics and a few foreign beers and very unique seating arrangement very cute and outside seating and covered so you won't get rained on and it's going to be spring soon on Spring Street from Barry to Broadway I think they're closer to Broadway on the north side that whole street is a lot of bars and on a Friday and a Saturday if you're out late at the bar and the bar stop serving food they're open late on weekends from my recollection maybe 12:45 to 1:00 a.m. so after a good drink with friends and you're hungry and the bar has their kitchen closed you can always go to upside Pizza and grab a quick slice and if you still want some alcohol...

Great pizza spot with a serious heckler & homeless problem. I’ve been here serveral times and the Dunlop slice (sausage and peppers) is delicious. Great pepperoni and plain too but the sausage and pepper one is a favorite. The staff is great and all is well but they get a serious problem with this repeated heckler- homeless man who literally has threatened me and other guests that he’ll kill us and attack us if we don’t buy him pizza. I’ve seen the owner shoe him off once. Another time he’s mentioned it to a passerby how he’s not welcomed inside the store but he continues to be there and honestly I don’t feel safe eating there anymore. My last encounter in broad daylight being harassed along with the couple next to me, and maybe 30 people targeted as they passed by was too much. I hope they rectify this or NYPD can because it’s unfortunate. 5/5 ⭐️ 🍕 food but the fact this guy keeps coming around at all hours of the day and getting in peoples faces in a threatening way is too much; I can’t put 5 stars when I don’t feel safe going =\ so can’t expect you too either. Best suggestion is eat inside if it’s not full and hope you won’t be bothered by...
