This is the best Thai food that I have had! And months after coming here, I found out that the Thai embassy ordered from here!
The food is flavorful without being too salty. They can also adjust the level of spiciness and heat, just let the friendly staff know.
The drinks here are so beautiful. Everytime I see the serving staff walk by with a drink, I start to regret the one I ordered and want to order the drink that passed by me - very tropical and colorful drinks! They also have a great selection of alcoholic, non-alcoholic, and beers!
I'm not big on appetizers, but when I do order I prefer the chicken satay that comes with 2 dipping sauces - a delicious peanut sauce and a vinegar sauce. I enjoy their papaya salad which is sliced very thin for easy eating with a tangy dressing which always wakes up my appetite! I've also had their dumplings with a dipping sauce mixture of soy sauce and vinegar which I save and later pour over my entree or rice!
I typically order the pad Thai with soft tofu - great balance of noodles, veggies, and tofu and the fresh lime ties the entire dish together. The Salmon Pad Cha which is a generous amount of salmon that is lightly crusted outside but succulent and flaky on the inside with a spicy and very flavorful sauce with lots of veggies, and the yellow curry with chicken which is a mild creamy golden curry sauce and goes incredibly well with their brown rice. The other dish I enjoy very much is the duck with lychee and veggies. The duck is meaty and most of the fat has been cooked off which yields a crunchy skin. The duck is accompanied with a sauce and the lychee gives it fantastic tropical dimension to the whole dish!
I've also tried their rib-eye steak which was done just right with a tangy sauce accompanied by fried rice which was not oily. It was all very tasty! I've had their massaman curry with chicken which is a nice comfort food for me - creamy, mildly-flavorful, fantastic over rice. During the winter / cooler weather my go to is the creamy tom yum soup - comforting, filling, satisfying, and can be a meal on its own.
For dessert, I ordered time and again, the pumpkin custard with strands of soft pumpkin over a creamy bed of black rice all lightly sweetened - excellent...
Read moreWhile I was visiting here, a server with - I believe - the name Daniel Markferding approached me with seemingly kind arms.. Though, little did I know.. The man in question appears to be in his late 50s, with a warm and gentle smile that puts others at ease. He has a slightly rounded face and soft, welcoming eyes that seem to sparkle with kindness. His hair is neatly trimmed and grey, and his clothing is often conservative but well-tailored.
At first glance, he may appear to be the kind of person you could confide in, or perhaps the sort of grandfatherly figure that children might feel safe around. However, upon closer examination, there are certain details that hint at something more ominous lurking beneath the surface.
His movements are often slow and deliberate, as though he's carefully considering each action he takes. When he speaks, it's with a soft and measured tone, almost as though he's trying to lull his listener into a false sense of security. There's an underlying sense of calculation to everything he does, a sense that he's always thinking several steps ahead.
Perhaps most unsettling of all are his eyes. While they may seem warm and welcoming at first, a closer look reveals that they're almost unnaturally bright and piercing. They seem to bore into your soul, as though he's trying to extract information or control your thoughts. There's something unsettling and predatory about the way he looks at people, as though he's sizing them up and deciding how best to manipulate them.
Despite all of these warning signs, the man's demeanor never wavers. He remains kind and affable, always willing to lend an ear or offer advice. It's only through a careful observation of his behavior and mannerisms that one begins to suspect that there's something more sinister going on beneath the surface.
Overall, this man is a master of deception, able to mask his true intentions behind a veneer of kindness and charm. He's the sort of person who might lure you into his confidence, only to turn on you at the last minute. Beware the kind-looking stranger, for he may be more dangerous...
Read moreWan Waan is a new Thai restaurant located in the Chelsea neighborhood. Since it had been a while since we had Thai food, we decided to give this place a visit. The restaurant boasts a spacious interior with a relaxing ambiance, making it a pleasant dining experience.
To begin our dinner, we indulged in our favorite drinks and opted to share two appetizers: Roti Massaman; consisted of a delectable combination of roti pancake served with chicken, onion, and peanuts in a Massaman curry dipping sauce. Calamari Spice; featured calamari cooked with black pepper and crispy jalapeños, served alongside sweet chili sauce and spicy mayo. Both appetizers were perfect for sharing. For our main course, we ordered a variety of dishes to share family-style. These included: Pad Thai: A classic dish consisting of thin rice noodles, tofu, bean sprouts, chives, preserved radish, peanuts, and egg, served with pork. Thai Fried Rice: An egg fried rice dish with Chinese broccoli, onions, scallions, and tomatoes, accompanied by chicken. Gra Prao Ped Yang: This dish featured half-roasted duck, bell peppers, onions, carrots, and string beans in a chili basil sauce, topped with crispy basil leaves. We found the portions to be quite generous and felt like we may have ordered too much, but we enjoyed our dinner overall. However, none of the dishes truly amazed us. The flavors and presentation were typical Americanized Thai restaurants, which left us wanting a more...
