After working in upper management in hospitality for over 15 years, I can say the food was amazing, but the service was among the worst I have ever experienced. We had reservations and were seated at 1:35 pm. After sitting for 15-17 minutes without being greeted, we flagged someone down who rolled their eyes and said someone would be with us. Two tables near us were seated after us and both were served before we were even greeted. Being the only black table in the restaurant, it felt like we were not welcome.
I assume “Jordan” was our server, but he never introduced himself and never returned to our table. We had to flag someone down anytime we needed anything (i.e water, to order, drinks, check). We sat with dirty dishes in front of us while all the tables around us were cleared. Again, we had to flag someone down to clear our table. When we received the check, there were drinks on it that we ordered but never got. At this point I approached “Jordan” (the name on the bill) to let him know the food was amazing, but the service was lacking, and asked for a card to leave a review about our experience. He responded sarcastically, saying it was because we didn’t get drinks.
At this point, it was very clear that your establishment does not welcome people of color, except for the support staff who were working hard. I asked to speak with a manager and “Jordan” gave me a general review card, which was also missing from our check. I assume this was because he realized everything I said was correct. I would love to be contacted to discuss...
Read moreI took the girls for dinner here after the color factory to my disappointment. I’ve eaten at westville east before many times - the service and the food is much better. We were the only table seated inside the restaurant so I would expect better service than what we got. Firstly, upon receiving the food the Mac & cheese bowl was huge so I asked if that was the kids Mac that I ordered and was told no it’s a regular side. The manager offered for me to keep it and he would edit the check. My string beans were under cooked texture similar to chewing rubber but I did eat them because the sauce was so amazing. I only received 5 yuca slices on my plate as a side order with my salmon. The chicken tenders were clearly over cooked, I was actually surprised they would send them out this way but the girls argued they didn’t want to wait for another order. Last but not least, after the food was brought over I had to get up from the table to walk over to the bar to ask the bartender for sets of silverware because my server never brought any. Even when I got up the server was in the back with who appeared to be the manager and both never came to assist me or apologize for the mistake. The gentleman, whom I’m assuming was the manager, is the one who comes to close me out and after he runs the card on the machine he preselects 20% gratuity. This I absolutely did not like and it topped off the awful experience. The service didn’t deserve anything to be honest and absolutely not 20% but I still left 10% in cash. I would never come back to...
Read moreYou shouldn’t trust people who write a review based on one experience.
That said, I had the Cesar Salad. The best Cesar I’ve ever had is the one I make. Their version is beyond basic, which for some, is exactly what you need sometimes. The dressing fell flat, not bold- but it wasn’t bad.
You can tell a lot about the rest of the menu from the way they make their salad.
The $11 sirloin add on was a 3.5/5. Tender, cooked well but under seasoned, which I think is the theme of this place.
This was a delivery experience, the salad came intact and the steak was warm.
I wouldn’t pay for a repeat performance here, but if my boss wants to buy me lunch again from here, I...
