One star for the service. Picking up mealpal on a Thursday afternoon. I walked in scanned the QR code and told the guy at the cashier that I am here to pick up mealpal. I stepped away then 10 mins later, another guy asked me what do I want to order and I told him I am there to pick up my mealpal order and I already scanned the QR code. He then asked me if I scanned, I said I just mentioned that I scanned the QR code. I am not sure if they understand how mealpal works at this location or if they care for the mealpal business. But for me to stand there waited for 10mins to have someone else to put in my order was definitely a mess up. Waited for another 15 mins, there were only 1 person who ordered before me and already left. The first guy who took my order started shouting 109, order 109. I never got my order number so I asked, is that for mealpal? Of course, he did not know. He turned around and asked, then said no, no, it's not. Two minutes later, the second guy who took my order came out, and they said 109 is actually my order. How fun to just waste someone's time and keep them waiting. Get the fricken system together to properly run a business. Will not come back to...
Read moreHidden Gem in plain sight!!!!! It’s easy to pass by this place without noticing it, due to the number of other small restaurants flanking it on either side when suddenly you realize that it’s that ‘famous Western Chinese’ restaurant that has locations popping up all over the city. And famous for several good reasons, the biggest being the delicious food with their signature famous spicy cumin sauce. Once inside you see two huge screens above featuring their menu. They have an array of popular dishes from lamb to beef noodles and a soup version of those dishes too. Spinach dumplings are very popular as is the lamb burger. This particular location is pretty much a hole in the wall that fills up very quickly and seats are taken just as fast but don’t let that fool you. Customers are VERY CONSIDERATE and usually for the most part are in and out just as fast as they came in. So by the time your order is ready, a seat is usually vacant ….just for you. Prices are VERY REASONABLE, and portions are generous. You will be very glad you came here and the service from the staff is excellent, even amazing...
Read moreOverall: I'll be back at Xi'an to try more items from their menu. If you're not sure about spicy food, I recommend checking out their burgers.
Ambiance This Xi'an's famous foods is one of the smaller franchises that I've visited. There's not too much seating, but it is pretty convenient to order takeout from. There's a self serve kiosk and an area for you to grab your utensils of choice.
Food and Drink Spicy & Tingly Beef Muscle Hand-Ripped Noodles The noodles are the main attraction in the dish. I've had the cumin lamb version before and I prefer that over the beef muscle. The cut of beef here just ends up a little more tough than I'd like to chew. You just can't go wrong with a spicy sauce on some noodles though.
Stewed Pork Burger The burger is a great order in its own right. The bun is very dense, but it pairs very nicely with the meat, giving almost and extra level of sweetness to the bite, contrasting with the richness and the saltiness of the pork meat. This burger isn't spicy, but is still a great order whether or not you can...
