they charge a premium for a bagel with a cup of coffee, over 11 dollars, and that is the lunch "special" .... a bagel, w/ 50 cents worth of spread and a coffee.
they refuse to put sugar in the coffee, and claim its a covid protocol. your meaning to tell me, you can brew the coffee, pour the coffee, put the milk in the coffee, and thats where you stop? your going to put the last task on me? you have no option to add two scoops of sugar while your adding milk, like a deli coffee is traditionally served, so that I'm not putting everything down and opening my coffee back up, taking 15 individual packets of sugar tearing them open, getting sugar everywhare, 10 min later i get to walk out the door, great, thanks for not having the courtesy of simply tossing 2 scoops of sugar in my coffee, because im a paying customer.
I mention this and the whole place wants to argue with me, and I'm looked at as some lunatic. I simply expect the bare minimum especially if im going to pay top dollar, the deli around the corner makes coffee for a buck, with sugar tossed in for those who would like that service, theyre not baristas, theyre not master chefs, and they're not charging top dollar either.
It's sad, because places like these are going out of buisness. Granted the bagel is good, the coffee is good.
they lady at the register does minimal to acknowlwge customers. she had her back turned to me, i guess because the bagel was being made, so when the bagel was done, she finally turned to me and processed my order, then made the coffee, the order could have been paid for, and coffee could have been made while the bagel was being made, and I would be here writing a positive review, and there you go, your building a strong customer base, instead i get this weird energy like im barrating a migrant worker and I am some sort of insensitive jerk, whatever, I work retail, i have to provide customer service at the highest level, this is NOTHING, this is nothing, customer is ALWAYS RIGHT, how hard is it to say, hrm, theres no line today sir, for you, i will put the sugar in the coffee just how you like it , thank you so much for choosing us, it hrts nodoby, instead you have this mask covered mute that doesnt make eye contact, gtfoh, come to my job and try that BS see how that works out.
your serving real people, who work hard jobs. Its not entitlement, I expect service for my hard earned dollar, especially if I'm comming to of all places, a bagel shop, I expect bagels to be affordable, I expect if theyre not affordable to have at least a plesent experience and to be thanked for comming, and to have my concerns addressed.
if they want to save the buisness, be more welcoming to the average person, for instance, stop charging to add light smear of butter to a cream cheese bagel, that cost you nothing, and it brings a bagel to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWould be great if they honored their posted open hours. Food quality and freshness gets a 5. Prices get a 3 as they are on the higher end of pricing for the neighborhood for what they are. Staff would get a higher rating but for 1) a woman who works on the line taking orders. How can someone so grumpy be in front of house and how can I repeat my name to her 3 times every time I visit (about 2x a week) and she still can't understand a simple name? Lastly, if you post to be open at 7am, please open at 7am. Don't make people stand outside till 7:10am (according to AT&T and T-mobile) before you let them in, and, for goodness sakes, if the door IS unlocked at 7:00am on the dot and a customer walks in to spend money, try not to sound so angry and annoyed at them when you tell them to come back in 10 minutes. Being loose with posted hours during covid made sense, but we're far beyond that now, and if the number of employees that were inside (I counted nine) couldn't produce one toasted bagel with cream cheese then the owners really should just consider shutting...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreToday, I asked for a toasted bagel and got a burnt bagel because the server (male) wanted to tell me how I should have my bagel. He told me it was hot out of the oven, but I wanted it toasted which is always how I have my bagels. He didn't like this. Why should it matter to this guy! It obviously did because he burnt it and felt perfectly fine wrapping it up and giving it to me burnt. I guess he is the bagel police! When I returned the burnt bagel to get a refund, the manager (male) referred to me twice, even after I corrected him, as "dear". He also wanted to assert it was my fault it was burnt because I wanted it toasted. I think most people know the difference between burnt and toasted. Won't be going back! There are other places in this richly diverse city with better trained forward facing personnel who don't have attitudes and who don't refer to...
