The first time I went was at their grand opening, and it was one of the weirdest yet communal openings I've EVER been to. They had axe-throwing, a bouncy house, free food, and even a race between Jojo the Chicken and an Easter Bunny LOL. The craziest part was most definitely the Cluckin' Wild Tenders challenge! The challenge required them to eat 3 tenders (spicier than the Carolina Reaper) and last 3 minutes without drinking milk. It was INSANE!! There were only 2 people who fulfilled the challenge; the first beast got $500, the second got $250.
I've been back a couple of times since, because of distance, and every time I am around, I make sure I stop for Jojo's Hot Chicken in Newark. They also have a drive-through! The people are nice, and the spot really feels like an old-school hangout for everyone. Each time I go, I see a bunch of teens and families having a good time.
Well, I obviously recommend. Fresh food, cool people.
I heard they're opening a restaurant called "The Bodega" almost down the street. From what I've seen and what I've been told... bro Newark is going to go crazyyyyy over the designs and the variety of options! I'm coming back in town just for their grand opening in a...
Read moreFinally hot chicken that gives you a reawakening to a Deep South classic. All I can say is thank you! 🙏
I got the chicken and waffles at a local bar last night. I don’t pretend to be a hot expert or savant, however I had some of the best that Ohio has had to offer. This easily joined the ranks (surpassed several) of those established hot chicken spots!
The medium spice chicken gave a kick but not an overwhelming level of spiciness. The meat was perfectly cooked and of good quality! The waffles were incredible- soft and fluffy but with pockets of sugar crystals- well done 🤌. The sauce, I feel like I will be talking about it for the next week! Similar to an excellent homemade ranch mixed with cane. ( my deepest apologies, that seems too disrespectful of a comparison of such cuisine genius).
Needless to say, that you, Mr or Ms Google searcher, need to try this place as one of the finest chicken experience you experience in Licking County, nay the Mid West.
My hat is off you you...
Read moreWe had the chicken quesadilla and parm wings and sweet potatoes fry’s. Chicken quesadilla was AMAZING. Wings were good but not like over the top good. Sweet potato fry’s came out cold but we’re still good. It took about 25- 30mins after ordering to get it. But good food takes time. The chicken tasted so fresh. The service was nice but felt rushed to order. Asked for ketchup for fry’s and was given 3 packets. The drinks are pop cans so hopefully you don’t get thirsty from the other spicy food options. Had to pay for a side of sauce cause there was barely any on the quesadilla. The right type of decor and restaurant for downtown Newark. Overall it was a good experience but...
