Tonnie's Minis — Restaurant in Newark

As a long time customer of this Bakery I have followed them from ever single location that they have open and closed. Starting from Harlem, Dyckman, Newark, Edgewater NJ (which is now closed) their Kios in Garden State Plaza Mall (which is now closed). I have order numerous times throughout the years from Custom cakes, regular cakes and cupcakes. Never have I experienced such poor customer service and work for them until this past weekend. I placed an order from them for my cousin's 50th bday party. I received a call from the chief two days prior regarding pick up. The chief indicated the cake needs to be picked up the day of the event b/c the image is an editable image and it wouldn't last pass the day of. I rearranged pick up time on end. This is the end result of the cake. The editable image wasn't applied correctly nor smoothed out around the cake. There is a random strip down the middle of the cake. The design should have been one smooth solid image all the way around the cake. It looks like they didn't measure the image properly so they had to cut another strip to cover the cake. The cake wasn't properly constructed as it started leaning to the side. Once we cut the cake it completely fell apart. Paying $200 plus for a cake that was completely inedible is ridiculous. I reached out to Tonnies yesterday by phone and email. I received your standard I'm sorry that happened to you apology and later a follow up email stated they can't predict how a cake is going to hold up in the summer months and a $100 in store credit. Absolutely unacceptable. I have brought cakes from them in a heat wave every summer and never experienced this poor quality of a cake. I have yet to receive a reply to my last email nor the phone call I requested from they to futher discuss this. They have lost a long time customer who will also spread the word to all of the customers I sent them to no longer patronize this Bakery...

This place gave me major stress ! I dont know why they ask what kind of cake you would like if at the end of the day they do whatever they feel like without even notice. I ordered a cake for my daughters first birthday and 4 days prior of the party they asked me if im still interested in it ( after the fact i paid for it already)the next day they tell me they dont do the filling that i wanted , even tho they said they could. I had no other option since the party was so close so I choose two different fillings and chocolate cake. The day of the party comes and the design outside is absolutely beautiful that i must say , the person in charge of design did a beautiful job , but by the time we cut the cake I realized they did buttercream filling and two tears of vanilla cake and only one of chocolate. I had to keep a smile for the pictures but i was livid !! Never gonna order from here again and i wont recommend you to do it either. The miscommunication between...

With all the crazy things that are happening in the world at the moment, seemingly, there could be few that could bring you joy. This place, happens to be one of the best places to experience a moment of bliss ☺️

They are personable, professional, inviting, and such characteristics are complementary to the delicious fresh cupcakes, cake, and ice cream. And that’s just what I purchased for myself! 🤣

I’ve purchased an assortment of their sweets and gifted them for a friend’s graduation, and she’s STILL talking about those dang carrot cupcakes! I’ve noticed other customers utilize their catering service, too!

Look, If you happen to read this review (which I don’t normally write) you owe it to yourself to enjoy the sweet life and Find a reason to smile and get yourself a treat. Hop off Netflix, grab the kids or dog or solo and stop by Tonnie’s Minis!
