Professionalism and customer service should always be the top priorities of any establishment. On November 6th, our family made a reservation in person for the private room at Art & Jakes. The room was shown to my aunt to confirm it was suitable for our family, which includes children and small babies. She accepted the room based on this, and we confirmed the reservation again in person on December 2nd. However, our experience today was nothing short of disappointing. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a manager, Joe, who was at the hostess stand, loudly speaking rudely to a customer on the phone in front of other guests. After informing the hostess of our party name, we were told that our room was ready and that guests were already inside. She then escorted us to the room, where we placed our drink orders with our server, who was doing an excellent job, and settled in. At no point was our server at fault in this scenario. She was amazing! Within 10 minutes, however, Joe entered the room and rudely informed us that we had to move because the room had been double-booked with another party at noon, despite our reservation being for 11:30. Rather than apologizing for the mix-up, Joe was abrasive and demanding. When we calmly explained that we had made this reservation a month ago and confirmed it again on December 2nd, he showed no concern and continued to be rude, even saying, "I don’t care." When my aunt asked if we would be compensated for the inconvenience, Joe’s response was dismissive—he offered us either the patio or two small inside tables. When she requested his last name, Joe refused to provide it. I found this insulting, as if we weren't smart enough to know that his full name is on the documents required to be posted in restaurants. We were then moved to a cramped space that could accommodate only 24 people, even though our party size was 25+, with a need for highchairs. Despite the inconvenience, Joe remained unprofessional throughout. After some time, Joe returned with a post-it note featuring a first name and a phone number, but once again refused to provide the owner's last name. The name he gave us did not match the one listed on the restaurant’s licensing. As noon approached, the room we had reserved remained empty, and we later learned that the other party who had been given our room was given priority to accommodate their need for to decorate. It became clear that our reservation had been moved to suit their needs. Their guests started filtering in as our party was paying our checks. We hold no ill will towards the other party, this is not in anyway their fault. We are extremely frustrated by how Art & Jakes handled this situation. Joe’s unprofessional behavior, the misinformation about the owner’s contact details, and the lack of proper compensation were unacceptable. Our family, which was just a small part of a larger group, will no longer be patronizing this establishment. After witnessing how Joe treated us in front of other customers, we are confident that many others will feel...
Read moreSince moving back home from Florida I used to love inviting my friends from Atlanta and out of state to come down here to meet me at A & J's for dinner, sporting events, and celebrations. Please note the regular employees and servers are very kind and friendly. Last year we had one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever encounter while out at any restaurant with friends. One of the new Manger trainees was ridiculously rude and seemingly overwhelmed by this type of work 😑 😒 There was a playoff game taking place during our visit. We had been supporting and spending monies with this business from day one and even during it's name changing transition. So to have a new Manger trainee who came across as if he could care less about us as guests was profoundly disrespectful and very disappointing as we had never been treated with such disregard at this establishment by anyone at any time. I'm not sure what his problem was that Day. However, I took it very personally because I am the person in our group who invited everyone here. Please be reminded we can afford to eat and dine at any restaurant of our choice and that's why we chose this restaurant it was our weekly hangout spot. We have never gone back here since that evening nor will we ever return. The guy tried to use his authority as a manager to intimidate us by stating he would call the cops ...call the cops why? Because he could not perform his job duties well by providing clean tables and being professional during a peak business period in the restaurant to guests who requested and excepted to be seated at clean and sanitary tables to eat dinner... which is just a standard and simple practice or because it was busy as most restaurants typically are here in Newnan, GA. On a daily basis... which would not warrant getting upset with guest and stating to us that he was short handed and being totally belligerent etc... this is why planning is very critical for any business and knowing how to forecast customer trends, and sale patterns based on previous holidays and big sporting events when managing a shift at a business... the managers should never place nor pass off those responsibilities onto his guests or treat the guests poorly. I could go on and on about this misused opportunity to build or maintain a great customer relationship with us. I'm tired of businesses coming into our town who allow unprofessional management teams to operate their businesses by being unwilling to train or follow-up on their management team's on-the-floor training program ...who could in any case just simply always be kind and friendly to guest no matter what is going on behind the scene at the operation. However, I am no longer upset ...I'MJUST DONE! Please choose wisely if you decided to dine here. Hopefully my terrible experience...can be a teachable moment that will improve other new customers experience here in a...
Read moreWe went to A&Js for dinner with the family. Our server, Jordan, was okay-but he tends to talk way too much and is easily distracted. Although that was irritating, we moved past it. The food was less than stellar. The chicken quesadillas were dry and tasteless. The kid's mac & cheese was directly from a microwaveable cup. The food runner, DJ, had the personality of a wet mop, and when we asked about the fries we ordered-he shrugged his shoulders and mumbled something and walked away. At the end of the meal, Jordan asked how everything was, so we proceeded to give some constructive feedback to be passed along. He took our credit card and said he would pass it on to the manager. Well, this is where our experience went downhill. The manager came out with an unprofessional attitude, and said "well, what's going on?" We told her about the food and service, and she began overtalking (almost arguing) my husband while making excuses for DJ the food runner "because he's a kid". She was very combative and unprofessional. She blurted out "I can take the quesadillas off, well half the price since she (my daughter) ate some." We instructed her we didn't want anything taken off the bill, we just wanted to provide feedback for improvement. As she walked away, she said "My name is Kourtney with a K in case you do a review or anything." During this whole encounter, she stood the shrugging her shoulders and making movements as if she could care less. Approximately, 15-20 minutes had passed, and we have yet to get our check & credit card we had given Jordan earlier. We went inside searching for Jordan and our credit card. Jordan came out of the kitchen and couldn't find our card!! By then, we were furious!! He ran in the kitchen and found it somewhere but lied and said he had it in his pocket!! Clearly, he did NOT! Another manager, Justin, walked up questioning what was going on...I explained it all to him again. He did inform me that Kourtney's shift was ending so technically she shouldn't have even been outside with us. As we left out, DJ, some of the other servers, and the hostess were laughing about the situation.
Bottom line, we will NEVER go back there!! I canceled my credit card (for future purchases) in fear that someone wrote down my number since it was "floating freely" through the kitchen. We paid our bill and I even tipped Jordan although he lied and didn't deserve a tip.
I contacted corporate and am awaiting a return phone call.
Summary of names/titles: Jordan (server)-talks too much, easily distracted. Kourtney (manager)-rude, unprofessional, bad attitude DJ (food runner)-rude, doesn't care Justin (manager)--listened, but unsure if anything will happen. FOOD & SERVICE...
