After losing my car to an EF4 tornado in 2021, I walked there on my lunch breaks multiple times only to get turned around because they randomly lock the dining room doors (“drive-thru only”). During the pandemic was one thing but my twin brother continued having the same experience multiple times in 2022, eventually learning that it was supposedly due to the labor shortage. It blows my mind that they are still doing this in 2023. Their “short-handed” excuse just isn’t cutting it.
The app never correctly reflected the open/closed status of the dining room so, despite being closest, I gave up trying until I got another vehicle to take through the drive-thru. I simply couldn’t spend my lunch walking back and forth only to come back empty handed. My lunch breaks are now shorter and going through the backed-up drive-thru uses my entire lunch break. On top of that, since beggars can’t be choosers my current vehicle has no AC and it’s simply too hot to spend the entire lunch break sitting in their drive through… or anywhere else. That’s why I decided to patronize them today only if the dining room were open so I could have a drink and enjoy their AC.
Despite a funny smell (like an infestation) it seemed to be open but instead of taking my order they asked “DoorDash or Grub Hub?” When I said “neither, I’d like to place an order” I got the line “I’ve only got five people.” She was nice about it though… Maybe even called me “Hon” or something. I played dumb and said “That’s fine. I’m on lunch break so I can wait.” After all, she didn’t explain the significance or say the register was closed and the cool dining room was all I really wanted anyway. “Five” doesn’t even sound short-handed to me. I only know she was using that excuse to close the dining room due to my twin brother’s experience with them. Frustrated and unwilling to explain what she meant, she took my order anyway… and it turns out the register was open making me wonder why they didn’t just tell me it was carry-out or drive-thru only (no dine-in).
Now, believe it or not, I decided to sit outside anyway, partly because of the smell and partly because I appreciated them taking my order and didn’t want them to have to clean up after me. I’m nothing if not deferential and conscientious. In fact, I went ahead and pulled cash out of my pocket to tip them (yes, tip at Wendy’s) when I went back for a refill.
While finishing up I saw an elderly couple shuffle up to the door and go in, confirming they didn’t lock the door behind me. I didn’t think they’d take my order then turn them away. Soon a man and his son were holding the door for the elderly couple who had only just entered. On my way in the elderly couple confirmed they were turned away. Sick! The son and his father were very disappointed.
It seems a shift change had just happened as there were more than 5 people and the person who helped me was nowhere to be seen. I told them I was returning to tip them for taking my order anyway but not after they turned the elderly couple away… to say nothing of the man and his son. The whole kitchen staff responded collectively and repeatedly saying they “don’t care” …which is EXACTLY the problem. Yeah: You can smell that they “don’t care” as soon as you walk in.
While I retrieved my food from the outdoor seating area and left I witnessed three more people parking and getting turned around. That makes 7 people in the 10 minutes I was there, and they still don’t even have the decency to save us the trouble by putting up a sign.
The pandemic is over and there is no excuse for this continued laziness. It’s gone on for far too long and it’s past time for corporate to step in and put an...
Read moreTo a large part, it's a burger place.
I arrived just before 4p local time, and there was a customer sitting and eating, and two more customers waiting on food. One, a delivery driver, said they had been waiting more than 10 minutes for a Biggie Bag of a Spicy Sandwich and a cheeseburger. After prompting the staff, it took about 5 more minutes to get his food, which he said was cold. The other customer said they had been waiting for more than 30 minutes, and we're asking for a manager for a refund so they could order food somewhere else. The staff called for the manager, but he never came to the front. The customer reported their food was already cold before they received it.
I stood by the register for about two minutes before a team member came to take my order. I waited approximately 7 minutes to receive my two burger combos. I was never greeted. I ordered a sweet tea to drink. The staff member who took my order seemed almost embarrassed they they did not have any fresh sweet tea, only the mass produced beverage out of the soda fountain, which I accepted.
It seemed odd to me that the staff would seem embarrassed over this than the fact that multiple customers were waiting an exceedingly long time for basic foods. I was half inclined to walk away after hearing the custody ahead of me had already waited a half hour before getting cold food.
In all, I counted nine staff for the six customers in the building. I never saw more than the working at any time, including the drive thru side. I have no idea what most of them were doing. They seemed receptive to the note that the bathroom needed attention, but I don't recall seeing anyone walk towards the bathroom before I left 10 minutes later. Generally, the rest of the store was clean, but I'm not inclined to seek out this store again if I have to wait more than 10 minutes for food between meal times. I could understand a wait if it was during a lunch rush,...
Read moreMyself along with 2 colleagues decided to stop here to grab something quick to eat. We decided that the drive thru would be a better option so we ordered there. Once we got to the window to pay and pick up our order, the young lady who opened the window had the nastiest attitude I have EVER experienced at ANY fast food restaurant in my entire life. She opened the window didn’t say “hello, hi” or anything of that nature. I didn’t sweat it, I just handed her my payment so we could be on our way. She came back with an even nastier attitude, handing me my change while rolling her eyes. After she handed me my food and closed the window yet again, I sat at the window checking our order. She opened the window again and just stood there looking at me in other words to say “why are you still here” but she didn’t say that, she just stood there staring at me as if I was bothering her. At this point I asked to speak to the manager. The manager was really nice and I basically told him what our experience was after stopping at this location. Although he was really nice, I will never spend another dime at this location. If they want to keep a successful and profitable business, people like that should NOT be allowed to deal with customers at all, maybe flipping the burgers or even dropping fries, but not in the window or cash register interacting with customers who are spending...
