Hoagie's Pizza & Pasta — Restaurant in Newport City

I went here hoping for some decent Italian food - I was greatly disappointed. I arrived and there were two different signs. One said please seat yourself, the other instructs you to order at the counter. I went to the counter. The cashier made some recommendations, none of which were pizza or pasta, or even Italian? I decided on the chicken parm. My food arrived very quickly, which tells me it's pre-made and not to order. The spaghetti's portion was huge, but the chicken was barely more than a chicken finger size. And definitely a frozen piece of prebreaded chicken. And then there's the sauce... I would not have ordered this if I'd known they put meat sauce on their chicken parm. Who does that?? But even worse, the sauce was awful. I'm fairly certain they make it with the ground beef crumbles that are put on pizza. It absolutely ruined the meal. There was a light in this tunnel - the meal came with garlic cheese bread, which i did not realize. I thought well, at least there's something here I can eat! But no, it tasted like someone dumped a shaker of salt on it!

The atmosphere also left a lot to be desired. The furnishings were OLD. The seat "cushions" in the booth had ZERO cushion. I was literally sitting on the wooden frame. Also, I tried several tables before I found a clean one, despite the fact that it was not at all busy.

Started going to hoagies, let me tell you best choice ever! The staff at Hoagie's is some of the best I have experienced. Their food is delicious, they have a nice comfortable space, they observe all the COVId restrictions. I once left a personal pizza there and the staff chased after me trying to get my attention. Ultimately they called the house and the wife greeted me at the driveway to tell me to go back. Another time I waited just a few minutes for my food (maybe 10 - 15 minutes), they offered me a complimentry drink while I waited.

I also have to mention their menu. Wide variety of selections avaible. They're also super easy to work with when someone in the house has allergies. Unfortunately some folks in my family have a pretty strict diet. Hoagie's takes it in stride and produces the best food ever.

Not a big fan of the pizza, with the exception of a stuffed steak and cheese pizza- Mayo base, with onions and peppers, it's not listed on the menu like this anymore, but you can still get it, you just have to order it like this- it's worth trying. The broccoli chicken Alfredo is another good one, and I love their tomato bisque soup, it's delicious. My only "complaint" is that I've watched their prices go up, and unfortunately in this area, choices are limited, so yes, when I want or need a change, I will pay what they charge, but the price tends to"fluctuate" from $17-$22 every time I ask for the stuffed pizza. And the price for the broccoli chicken Alfredo is... I recommend getting it to go and order the"child's portion". The price for this is "stupid" (sorry), but the child's portion is the same size as the adult portion and the price difference between the two is ridiculous! So remember, get it to-go, and order the child's portion so you aren't...
