Arby's — Restaurant in Nitro

I'm fairly sure most people already know what kind of food Arby's provides & what it tastes like, so I'm not mentioning the food except to say it was good. We've found from previous visits that this Arby's at Nitro Marketplace is consistently top notch...not all locations are. What I really want to review is what happened with the drive-thru window staff.

So, we went through the drive-thru & as usual, the speaker was squawky & hard to understand, so there was alot of "say again..." & "repeat that please..." from our end. I swear those "tin can & string" speaker systems are requisite standard issue for all fast food chains. Anyway, when we got to the pick-up window, the young man (high school age maybe?) asked us if the problem was him or the speaker. We told him it was mostly the speaker, but he might also try speaking a little slower. I don't think I've ever had an employee ask me that before, AND this young man actually thanked us for our feedback! What a refreshing change, an employee who actually cared about the customers & doing his job better... he made our day & we both think he's going to be a success in any future career.

Unfortunately, we lost the receipt, which might have had his name on it & neither of us thought to ask him. However, we are going to call the restaurant first thing tomorrow & see if we can find out who he was so we can give his boss a review of how wonderful this kid was...

This place is bad. The service is just poor. I have waited in the drive thru before for a very long time. Decided to go to Burger King next door. They had much better service. This evening I drove up to the window and waited. The girl finally say “Arby’s”. That’s all. I gave her my order. I pulled around to pay. She seemed annoyed. She hands me my food and there was no au jus in the bag. The window was closed. She was standing there. I was waving my arms. I had to open my car door and knock on the window. Only to be told they were out of an jus. I wouldn’t have ordered the French dip n swiss if I would have known...

Staff was slow, self-absorbed, and rude, but the food was good. 2 cashiers and the manager walked over to the register a couple of times and then spent several minutes at the register before any of them bothered to acknowledge we were standing there waiting to order. I was about to tell my husband we should leave and go somewhere else. Then the manager started mopping the floors and slamming chairs around us while we were eating and boxed us into a small portion of the seating area while everyone else was sitting in a different part.
