I come here all the time. The desserts are always so delicious but the customer service is atrocious! I’ve refrained from leaving reviews out of respect for the establishment, but today was the final straw. Every time I come in I alway have a young Hispanic girl, she has blonde dyed hair and a nose ring, “help” me. I put help in quotations because she is anything but helpful. Today I came in, there were three women at the counter, the young Hispanic girl, an older lady with gray hair and Ebony, who has very distinct eyeglasses . None of the three women were in any sort of rush to greet me. Eventually, the old lady came and decided to take my order. Ebony and the young Hispanic girl stayed away, Ebony was eating a salad, and couldn’t be bothered to leave it to do her job. I placed my order, a simple tuna salad sandwich and a bag of chips. None of the three women at the counter bothered to go to back where the kitchen is to begin preparing a simple sandwich. After 5 minutes Ebony finally stepped away from her salad and very slowly made her way to the kitchen. She then began washing her hands and putting on gloves at a glacial pace. She made the sandwich and put it in a to go container but didn’t close the lid. So for a couple of minutes my sandwich just stood open ready to be bagged and handed to me but none of them chose to do this simple task until I asked if that was my sandwich, which of course it was. Ebony had already gone back to her salad. The young Hispanic girl walked from the kitchen with a smirk on her face, and handed me my food. No “Thank you! Have a great day!” No “we’ll see you soon”, no nothing. Just bad customer service. Unfortunately this is generally my experience whenever I come here. I keep coming back because the desserts are just so good. But today was just too much. Every time I come in I have to deal with the young Hispanic girl who always has an attitude and she never greets me. I don’t work here and even I know that you’re supposed to greet me as such, “Hi, Welcome to Homemade, how can I help you?” But I never get greeted this way. I’m made to feel as if I’m imposing upon these employees. As I said, I’ve refrained from writing a review because everyone deserves a bad day. Everyone deserves some understanding and some grace. But today was just outrageous. I love the Oreo Cake and that’s what keeps me coming back, but no more. I can’t continue giving my money to people who would rather not see me...
Read moreI hate when I have to rate a newer restaurant, that missed the mark so badly, that I actually felt badly for them. They seemed to have plenty of staff, but service was terrible. Mind you it's cafetería style, where you get in line to order, then they bring you your food. Wasn't very busy, average I would say, so no excuse for bad service. So let me be direct and to the point. Food, was tasteless/bland, bad presention. Our order was missing several elements when they bought to our table, asked waitress, if she could please bring us the rest of our order, she never came back, never saw her until we were leaving. This establishment prides its self on homemade, specially pies and ice cream, so as a culinarian, I asked the manager, who happened to be taking our order if their food was made on the premises, by hand (homemade), he said and I quote " they're made in our processing plant and shipped here" I knew right there and then we were in for chain food, processed run of the mill, tasteless, over processed food and that was exactly what we got! No surprise there! Cesar salad, bland, no crutons or offering of any crachers, bread etc. The chicken was like eating a piece of cloth! My friend ordered the chili, it was like opened Dennison canned chili and very blend, again no bread which we ordered ever came. Do not recommand this eatery to anyone, who remotely knows what good, homemade food tastes and looks like. I literally threw away $25.00...
Read moreYou order at counter. Being my first time., I can see now that I should have had a bit of help. My soup was so thick. It was like pudding. Lobster bisque. My croissant looked amazing. But was so dry. I only ate about half of each. No condiments were offered. Drinks and food were delivered to table. But no refills were ever offered. My lunch partners soup was heavenly. Tomato basil I believe. Based on this experience I will not return. It's on the expensive side. Lunch combo of croissant and cup of soup. 2 waters $28 before tip just to deliver to table.
I gave review stars based on if I had known more about how this place worked, I could have ordered more to my taste. I am sure my croissant would have tasted much better with a bit of mustard or mayo.
There was no help for my soup. But the tomato basil was perfection.
There are way to many options in this town to repeat poor experiences. Sorry. But this one will not be on my let's do...
