Update: After Stone Creek received a visit from the Health Department and the posting of my review, I received a call from the Director of Operations at Cunningham Restaurant Group. He apologized for my experience both with the restaurant and with their insurance company and acknowledged that they could have handled this situation better. I explained that I wasn’t looking for financial gain from this, only that I was looking to recoup my financial losses, and that his call in and of itself made me feel a little better about the situation as a whole. A few days later, I received a check from CRG for the total of my meal and my medical expenses.
My hope is that this was an anomalous occurrence and that it’s not representative of Stone Creek or CRG as a whole. The fact that they did eventually take my claim seriously and reimbursed me for my loss goes a long way towards restoring my confidence in their operation.
HIGH RISK OF FOODBORNE ILLNESS!!! BEWARE!!! Don’t let the ambiance and the high price fool you. I've eaten at this location a few times before and been more or less satisfied but during a trip for takeout on March 15, 2019, I ordered a salad, a shrimp cocktail, and the Blackened Mahi Mahi. $60. When I got the food home (a 5 minute drive) my wife and I noticed it appeared unappetizing. The salad was just shredded lettuce with couscous and the fish was very greasy. I hadn't eaten that day so I ate the shrimp cocktail and the most of the fish and rice, even though it was unappetizing. My wife ate very little of hers and she didn’t eat any of my food. I planned on calling the manager the following day to let them know the food wasn't what I expected from them, especially considering their price tag. I went to bed and woke up on March 16, about 14 hours after eating the food, VIOLENTLY ILL. I vomited and had diarrhea from 9am until 2pm and couldn’t hold any fluid down, so at that point my wife took me to get an IV because I was severely dehydrated. To note, I very rarely get any form of intestinal distress; the last time I vomited was the last time I had food poisoning, contracted from a restaurant in Jamaica 12 years ago. I also hadn’t had any other food or any alcohol that day, nor had I drank alcohol for several months leading up to the incident. I note that because I want anyone who reads this to know it was most certainly a foodborne illness I contracted, most likely from improper handling of the shrimp or the fish.
I took an anti-nausea medication and slept until Sunday. I called and notified the manager on duty, Will, that I had contracted an illness from their food on Friday evening and asked if there had been any shortages in the kitchen or if there were any other reports, which he denied. Will made no apologies and offered a gift card, which I declined and told him that I would not be back to eat at Stone Creek Dining Company. I let him know that I would like to be fully reimbursed for my meal along with my accompanying $191 in medical charges, and he said he would have the general manager call me back on Monday, March 18. On Tuesday, March 19, I received a call not from the manager of Stone Creek, but from their insurance company. This surprised me because a) it wasn’t what I was told from Will and b) this must happen often enough that they have to keep an insurance company on retainer for this specific type of occurrence. He took my statement and I sent my receipts. He called me back yesterday and stated that after his “investigation,” he could find no evidence of any other foodborne illness at the restaurant and that he was denying the claim.
Bottom line, DO NOT EAT HERE! It’s not worth the risk and they will not even attempt to...
Read moreI went here for a late lunch/early dinner today and absolutely loved it! I enjoyed the Triple Dip appetizer as my main dish and accompanied it with a house salad. I then ended my meal with the raspberry cheesecake.
The Triple Dip was the perfect meal-sized portion that provided a variety of delightful tastes. The Brussel sprout au gratin dip was my favorite of the bunch. It reminded me of a spanakopita filling and was the perfect consistency and taste. The guacamole was really good. It wasn’t spicy but still packed in a lot of flavor. The roasted garlic hummus was clearly homemade - it had a very distinct taste that differentiates it from other hummuses while still being enjoyable. The grilled flatbread was the perfect softness and provided a great base for the dips. The crostini bread was also enjoyable and was the perfect texture to enjoy all the dips with.
The house salad was also great - definitely my absolute favorite I’ve ever had. The portion size I got was filling, and all the ingredients worked well together. I opted for ranch to top it off, and it was the perfect choice - not overpowering in taste, but tasty enough to complement the base. I was nervous about the alfalfa sprout being on there since I had never tried it, but it ended up working out really well and tasting good.
The cheesecake was heavenly. The plating of it really set the tone of how it was going to perform on my palate, and it did not disappoint. The base was the perfect middle spot between bland and overly rich, and the raspberry flavoring was great with the base. Having the whipped cream distributed by the cheesecake was good as I was able to control how much whipped cream I had in each bite.
The atmosphere was beautiful. It felt like a very fancy restaurant without being over the top. Everyone was so incredibly nice and provided exceptional service. I also want to shout out our server Matt for being attentive and friendly throughout our experience. He went above and beyond to ensure that we were satisfied with our dining experience.
Overall, I am very satisfied with my experience at Stone Creek Dining Company and absolutely plan on making this a restaurant I...
Read moreThis is the second time I visited this place, and will be the last. All of their steaks are so over-seasoned it's like eating pure salt. About half our dinner party became sick to our stomachs shortly after eating because of the insanely heavy seasoning. One family member asked for no salt on his pork chop due to his medications and the waitress said she couldn't guarantee no salt (he said okay, as long as no salt was added and the food was cooked plain). His food was brought out and was visibly salted. He did not eat more than a few bites, but never got the chance to ask for something different because the waitress was a rare sight to see.
The waitress was, to put it nicely, a space cadet. We had to ask to order our drinks. We had to ask to order our food. We had to ask for our bread to be brought out three times. Half of our table had empty cups by the time we were half-finished with our salty meals- we couldn't find her (or anyone) to refill them. A manager came out a few times, with her nose stuck in a tablet. Nobody could draw her attention. In the end, two of us had to go find the waitress to ask for the boxes that she had promised us fifteen minutes prior. She had her purse in her hands and was in a large group of waiters and waitresses all congregated and chatting in a small area away from the guests. Someone else brought us our boxes.
I've enjoyed many other Cunningham restaurants. I have no idea what went wrong...
