I have been here twice in the short time it has been open. Both times there have been issues that did not leave a good impression. This review will detail the most recent visit, as that is fresh in my memory.
When we arrived, my wife ordered half sweet and half unsweet tea. When the server came back with our drinks, she said that they were out of sweet tea and had brought only an unsweet tea, asking if that were okay instead. It was odd, but fine. I then asked what soups they had, as the menu indicates the soup changes daily. The server wasn't sure and had to go back to ask. When she returned, she said they did not make any soup today. She wasn't sure why, but they just didn't. I thought that was odd, considering it was already past noon, I am assuming they had just decided to not make any soup.
My wife ordered the salmon salad, and that was when the real problem presented itself. When it came out, the salmon looked a very unappetizing light gray color. Also, the salmon portion looked unlike any shape I had ever seen in salmon. When my wife took her first bite, she immediately said it was not salmon. I asked if I could try a bite. When I did, the flake, texture, and flavor (not to mention coloring and shape) were absolutely were not salmon. I would have guessed cod, by the texture and flavor.
When the server returned, we brought it up to her, and she immediately went to get a manager. The manager came out, and we told her that we did not think the fish on the salad was salmon. She looked at it and agreed. I wondered if there was perhaps a mix-up with another fish. She said that they don't carry any other types of fish at the restaurant. So, the only fish they SHOULD have on the premises is salmon, but both the manager and we agreed the fish could not have been salmon.
The manager offered to replace the entree with a different one, but we were not wanting to wait for another meal to be cooked. My wife ate her salad, and I finished my meal. We paid and left.
There are many things a restaurant can do that are absolutely excusable. One thing that is more difficult is when a key ingredient in an order is not what it is advertised to be. I don't know what fish was on the salad, but the manager couldn't tell me either. Maybe it was salmon, but if so, it was no salmon that should have ever been served. Actually, in hindsight, I think it possibly could have been microwaved salmon that was finished on a flat top. It didn't taste like fresh salmon, but microwaving it could probably have a similar effect.
Regardless of the root cause, this experience left a poor taste in my mouth, and we won't be returning. Unfortunately we were hoping for a good quality brunch location near where we lived. We will continue to drive further into Noblesville for Rosie's, Bocado, or Bica. Sunny Day is not what anyone should be...
Read moreSometimes you just want a place where you can catch up with friends without worrying about the environment, the service, or the food. Too often, restaurants fall short—either the service is rushed, the atmosphere is messy, or the food just doesn’t live up to the hype.
That’s why my friends and I chose Sunny Day Café in Noblesville—and it was exactly what we were looking for. From the moment we walked in, the dining room and kitchen were spotless, even though the restaurant had already been open for hours.
Our server, Daniella, welcomed us with warmth and made ordering easy. She was attentive when we needed her, but gave us space to enjoy our conversation. Jasmine and Mr. Polo supported seamlessly, clearing dishes and keeping everything flowing without ever interrupting.
The food? Incredible. It arrived quickly, was full of flavor, and had us so absorbed that our conversation paused just so we could savor every bite.
What could have been just another lunch with friends turned into a truly memorable experience—because the team at Sunny Day Café knows how to combine delicious food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere.

Read moreOverall, the food was tasty. I ordered the fiesta eggs Benedict with hashbrowns which was pretty good. I will say I wish the presentation was a bit better as some of the toppings were falling off when I got it, but it got the job done. My friend, however, ordered the sirloin and eggs and was rather disappointed. She asked for her steak medium rare and it was well done. Her poached eggs were also over cooked.
The service was also particularly negligent and lackluster. This may be a result of us coming at noon on a Sunday, but we had little contact with the waiter and wasn’t checked on throughout our meal. The food also took 30 minutes to come out and those who came in after us for their food 5-10 minutes before us. It also took a while after we finished eating to get the check. As I type this, we are still waiting for the check (lol). I’m sure this place has potential to mend all of these problems but it did tarnish our experience. We may come back since the food was good, but perhaps on a day that it...
