The worst experience I'd had at this location. My daughter and I went thru the drive thru for dinner ordering 2 entrees. In the process of ordering the food the drive thru lady continuously interrupted me to ask me about the sides and kept asking, "Is that all?" This was rude and highly irritating as I was trying to order and had she been quiet and allowed me to finish my order, I would have answered her questions about the side preferences I needed with each plate. I get to the window to accept the food and as part of my order, I asked for the spicy mayo sauce and katsu sauce with my meal. We checked the bag and there was no katsu sauce. There was no one at the drive thru window anymore so after waiting about a minute for someone to come back to the window, i honked my horn and waited. Still no response, so I honked again, waited another several seconds before I got out of the car and knocked on the window. Still, no one came. By now 3 to 5 minutes of us just sitting there waiting on someone to come back to the window has passed. I then put my car in reverse and reversed back to the drive thru speaker. I was greeted and I explained that i needed the katsu sauce I'd asked for in my order. When I get back to the window, it was apparent that the man was a manager and so I proceed to tell him the whole story. He immediately becomes defensive and provides me the excuse that, it was his fault that she was rudely rushing me through my order because he told her to "watch the drive times". I asked him, You'd sacrifice good customer service and potential for more money spent for "drive times?" As a customer, I shouldn't be rudely rushed through my order and left in the drive thru window for minutes to preserve your drive times and furthermore, there are no other cars in the drive thru." He just looked at me and I just drove off. It will be some time before i return to this Mo'Bettah's, at the very least, I won't be coming this late in...
Read moreYou know what would make Mo'Bettahs bettah? Larger meat portions to justify the prices.
The first thing that caught my eye upon pulling into the drive-thru was the small menu, which isn't a bad thing as I prefer quality over quantity. It's basically meat, rice, macaroni salad and some unique drinks. For my first trip, I went with the standard two-meat plate and chose their signature teriyaki chicken and teriyaki beef. I tried to get some katsu chicken but they had run out that day.
In total, they give about a cup of white rice, a cup of macaroni salad and about 8 ounces of meat (for the two-meat plate) which is placed on a bed of shredded green cabbage. Unfortunately, I was not offered any sauce with my meal which, according to their online menu, I should have been.
The food was fine. The white rice was just that. The mac salad was a bit sweet, a bit tangy and robust in flavor, and it paired well with the meat and cabbage. The steak was bursting with flavor from the teriyaki marinade, and the grilled chicken had some char marks that allowed a nice change of flavor to swoop in and mix things up a bit.
All of that, without a drink, for just shy of $15 after tax. Wew, lad. Those are table service restaurant prices and Mo'Bettahs is a fast food joint. I know inflation is happening hard right now and the price of animal protein is up there, but either overhead is monstrous or profit margins are slammin' because the price is about $5 too high for the food you get.
If they were to add drinks to their plate offerings, or another four ounces of meat, then we'd be in business.
I'll go back to try the other meat options but I highly doubt I'll be a regular patron. There's just better, more bang-for-your-buck food out...
Read moreThis was genuinely the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I waited almost an hour in the drive thru line, which is absurd to begin with. I would have left but they had already taken my order and there were cars in front of me and behind me. When I finally got to the window, the worker was just sitting on his phone!! Insane!!! They tried to compensate for the wait by giving me a “buy one get one free MINI meal”, which I do not feel like makes up for the amount of time I waited. On top of that, along with my order I ordered 5 teriyaki sauces and one spicy mayo. I typically check before leaving but at this point I was so ready to get out of the drive thru line that I just drove off. I got home and they had gotten my order wrong (gave us 2 minis instead of 2 regulars but still charged us for the regulars) and on top of that gave us just 2 teriyaki sauces. I was unable to even enjoy my meal because everything was dry already but I had no sauce to cover up the dryness of the meat. I typically love mo bettah’s, I go in my hometown, but this was my first time at this location. I have never written a review before but I simply cannot express enough how horrible my experience here was. If I could give this place negative stars I would… I will never be coming back here and I would never recommend it to anyone even if my life depended on...
