I first reached out to the team at Brockhaus Jewelry via phone and had the pleasure of speaking to Ben about a particular Rolex sports watch that I was looking for. We spoke at length, as he was very knowledgeable about the intricacies of different models and he suggested I drop by to meet the team in person. I called back a few days later with a question, Ben wasn't there, but I had the pleasure of speaking to David, who was also tremendous and just as knowledgeable. He was able to answer my question and discuss other models that were similar and may have been quicker to get. I dropped by the store a few days later to meet them in person and was greeted by David. We chatted about the models which I had been interested in for both my wife and myself. He did not have those at the time, but showed me what he did have. We took time and looked at the colors of different exhibition model dials for comparison. This was incredibly helpful, as one of the newer dial colors which are harder to get, did not appeal to me whatsoever. The mint dial on the Datejust looked completely different in person than it does on the web site. I prefer the darker green of the Oyster Perpetual dial. Had David not taken the time to show me the difference, I could've ended up waiting a substantial amount of time for a watch that I would just find underwhelming in person. David showed me what he did have, which was a light dial on a stainless steel watch with a jubilee bracelet, which I always found to be a clean and appealing look. I ended up leaving with that watch. The team at Brockhaus is truly second to none. If you're in the market for a watch or any other jewelry for that matter, I'd urge you to stop by and meet them. Not only did they call ME about an engagement ring layaway order my boyfriend had made (we had a couple months where money got tight and he hadn’t been able to make the payments, but as it was a layaway item and not a line of credit, there was no debt to be collected, the ring was still in the store’s possession), thereby ruining the surprise of it, when we went to cancel the order (since the surprise was gone and we were unhappy about the lack of professionalism of calling me instead of him) and get back the money my boyfriend had paid toward the item, they refused! They offered us another item worth less than what my boyfriend had already paid and said they were keeping the rest, $200, as a "restocking fee" for a ring that was never received. The manager, Brad, was very hostile, confrontational, hot-tempered, and borderline threatening (he even accused my boyfriend of telling him that we had broken up and that was why we didn't want the ring anymore). After over 2 hours of insincere apologies, guilt tripping by Brad, and arguing (during which I was the one trying to keep the manager calm instead of the manager trying to keep the customer calm) we finally managed to talk him into the alternate item and a small sum of cash. We will not be able to sell this alternate item for an amount that, when paired with the cash, would cover what my boyfriend paid toward the ring, so we have lost money in this nightmare.
