Surf Bar — Restaurant in Norman

First of all, my 2 stars are not about the food itself. I appreciated the ingredients and the fact that they were up front about their nutrition information and had informative posters about the ingredients. The staff was friendsly. My review, however, is mostly about the display of religion in commerce. For some of us who have experienced some pretty awful, and downright hateful, treatment by the various religious institutions, seeing it posted in commerce is a triggering experience that tells some of us to 'beware'. I think of religion and spiritualism as a private affair and I really don't see it's purpose in public commerce unless you're specifically targeting a type of customer you want and trying to alienate the rest. This is pretty much how I saw the religious displays. Again the food tasted great. The rest of it I could live without. I won't return, specifically because I feel like the displays were telling me and others like me directly that we're not their kind...

this place has “gourmet” smoothies. you can taste real honey in these smoothies if you ask for honey. the poppin pitaya smoothie was smooth and decadent. presentation of these smoothies are great due to the clear plastic cups. however let me state the reasons why i deducted stars. for one the smoothie i purchased was $6.51 and it was a smaller size. compare that to next door at tropical smoothie cafe where the same price gets you a 20 ounce smoothie. next the most overpowering flavor of the pitaya smoothie was the honey. they clearly use gourmet delicious honey for their smoothies but without that honey these smoothies lack flavor. this is a very healthy place to get acai or pitaya bowls or perhaps a smoothie but i feel the reason they dont get as much traffic is simply because of the reasons i stated. i am certain some people would love this place however due to the fact that this place seems upscale...

I would always highly recommend this location, the employees have always been so graceful, loving, appreciative for the past years.

However, I went through the drive thru, excited as I usually am for some surf bar.

From the beginning at the intercom, up until the physical encounter was a very negative, unprofessional, immature Young girl, she told me her name was Aries, not sure if that was her true name, Her tone was rude, her responses where short and irritable, gave me a face smile and quickly changed her face straight all while speaking with me. Very disrespectful and I drove off due to the very unprofessional exchange of mannerisms!!!

She is not a great or good fit for your location.

My family and friends will have to hold off on surf bar until something changes in that...
