B4 last few orders i would've said this is good food. But after ordering veggies on the side a couple times (since i couldn't eat dinner till a bit later) and getting hot mayo covered lettuce and tomato an hour later, I'm just highly irritated at this point. When that WAS your dinner plan with no back up and they ruin it, kinda ruins your confidence in their ability to feed you. Edit: since their food is good, i decided to return and try again. 1st try: asked for raw onion on the side (only special request made). It wasn't included so i went back & flagged them down for it, no big deal. 2nd visit: same request - she even read it back to me, as if raw onion on the side is hard to remember. Well it must be cuz what i got was raw onion on the sandwich, and fried onion in a container on the side. Takeaway- the same as before: they aren't capable of doing any special requests. Food is good. If you order as is, you're probably going to like it. But if you don't like it as it's listed, you're probably going to be disappointed. You have been warned.

Uncle Sam's Sandwich Bar is the kind of place you go when you are in Pittsburgh, PA, and you have a hankering for a delicious, Hoagie sandwich. Their sandwiches are one of the best Hoagies that I have had in Pittsburgh. I really enjoy the Filet Mignon Steak Sandwich. I normally get it from the Robinson Township location. The steak is thinly cut topped with onions, cheese lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms, and a Vinaigrette dressing. They also serve, Cheese Steak, Turkey breasts, Subs, Italian sausage Subs, provolone and egg, Stuff Italian Tuna Subs, Ham and Cheese Subs, and many more In addition, they have a very nice vegetarian Sub selection where they have a Mediterranean Sub, a Vegetable Combo Sub, Rome Vegetable Sub, Vegetable Florentine and the Portobello Sub is another favorite of mine. The prices are very fair and there is parking out front.

This is one sandwich shop you can always count on! It doesn’t matter if you want the best Cheesesteak in Pittsburgh or a fantastic Italian, this is the spot! Yes there are plenty of places around Pittsburgh that have great hoagies, but not many in the Robinson Twp area. They also have fantastic fries and I don’t even like fries lol. Only reason this isn’t a weekly stop for me is my one kid won’t eat anything. No sandwiches. But he has no problem eating from that nasty place that starts with Mc——— haha…. However I finally convinced him to try an Italian from here and now Italians sandwiches are one of his favorites… That says something if you can turn a sandwich hater into a sandwich lover!

Uncle Sam’s is not new to Pittsburgh. But it is often overlooked Bc The city tends to (for some reason?) compare it to Primanti Brothers?? Why? Idk? When I was at Pitt in Oakland, there was an Uncle Sam’s on The corner of Forbes and Oakland Ave. I loved that place, so much! Lol. Mid-terms, Finals, and celebrations often occurred at this location. The food was always spectacular. Only Tourists Order TAKEOUT!! Who orders takeout from any Uncle Sam‘s location…?? TOURISTS! Lololol. Bc the rest of us townies (we are a big city but I don’t want to miss represent the current census data on our present population post COVID)- we all know if u go to Uncle Sam’s. You DINE-IN! Period. Also, when you order Primanti’s you take the slaw off yourself Bc if you request it to the cook, well… your scrumptious sandwich will be more like, un-scrump! I see a lot of low reviews on here all about the same thing - the fries! Man, really. People; just because we live in the digital era and nobody has to “expose themselves” and everyone is becoming too comfortable hiding behind their fake representation of what their “ideal” self is | or Delusional Perception of self, is; DOES NOT MAKE IT OKAY to just constantly wild’out!! It’s sad, and scary that the masses, are morally okay with destroying reputations, businesses, & likewise; or bullying others in social media platforms. Since many feel “secure, safe, and protected” Bc it’s not like it was: Face to Face. Look others in the eyes to engage conversation. No, now the world talks out the side of its neck 24/7 and seemingly have no regard to the impact it deals to the individual, or small business, or institution, etc.. NOT COOL - please chill. Uncle Sam’s had a fries policy. This policy was openly displayed for every patron to see, prior to ordering, informing said patron of the fries policy. [Takeout does not come with fries. If you wish to add fries you will incur additional charge(s)]. Ok. Right, so why are there nearly 40-50 ppl ranting about the fries???? Lol. What happened to this Nation? We all acting like it’s the end of days or the zombie apocalypse! It’s not. Ya’ll non-thinkers “” put the Oakland location out of business. (JK.. lol idk why they closed. I have no evidence to support that claim. I was only joking. But in truth, Bc now in 2021 that power does lie in the typed words of the consumer). As a SBO, we should unify - or create an Association to protect each other from defamation of character[Organization], gossiping, and the horrid rumor mill. Daily, hourly, it ruins another life or family or small business. Use your mental filters just like how it was in real life, but apply that to this “fake life” of digital misrepresentation! UNCLE SAM’S, thank you for your service. And...

This was our first time trying this place so I called the day ahead to ask questions about how to order. The sign on the door said they open at 10:30am in a round about way. They didn't open until 11am. I was there at 10:30am cause the website said 10:30am also. At 10:40am I called in my order explaining it was two separate orders. Gave the gentleman my order. Being sure of what I was told from the day before when I asked questions. Being told the sandwiches came with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and mayo ( not wanting any of the cold items on the sandwiches, but wanting the grilled onions) along with the the toppings that were already included on the sandwiches. Placed my orders. Waited until 11am when they opened. Well there seemed to be a misunderstanding when I went to pick up my order cause it was all on one bill even though I know for certain I told the gentleman on the phone two orders being picked up by one person. The lady said she could separate the orders ended up ringing it all together even after handing her two credit cards. Got to work and the orders were even messed up. It's a shame cause the sandwiches were very good for what we got. Question is will we go back?? Yes!! When I call it in again I will be more certain the person on the phone understands what I am ordering and not feel so rushed or pushed...

I do not usually write bad reviews, and this is the first time I've been here. The moment I walked in I noticed none of the staff had smiles on their faces or said hello. I placed my order for a sub, and asked for lettuce tomato on the side since I had a half hour drive home. The cashier gave me my order number and I sat down and waited a short time.

The female prep cook murmured my order number and placed my to-go bag on the counter. As I walked over I asked to confirm my order number - with no response. The mail prep cook next to her confirmed my order number, and I said thank you have a great night - no response.

They forgot my lettuce tomato on the side, and the sub and fries, (you have to pay extra for fries when normally they would come with your order if you don't place to take out order, to which they said my only option was take out, upon placing my order) was mediocre. I'm not a sandwich critic, but you'd be better off going somewhere else in that area. If the food was better, I wouldn't be here writing this review.

First and last time I'll be eating here, and surprised at the lack of competency and kindness with the workers at this establishment. Train your employees better or find...
