Pinkbox - Mixed Experience with Nice Staff, Overrated Donuts, and Excessive Sweetness

I recently visited Pinkbox, and my experience left me with mixed feelings. One of the positives was undoubtedly the friendly and patient staff. The people working there were accommodating and helpful, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made the visit pleasant.

However, when it came to the cappuccino, I found it to be disappointing. The quality and taste did not meet my expectations. It lacked the rich and smooth flavor I associate with a good cappuccino. Perhaps it was an off day, but based on my experience, the cappuccino did not impress.

Moving on to the donuts, I found them to be overly sweet. While some people may enjoy the intense sweetness, it was too much for my taste. It seemed that most of the donuts on offer were geared towards those with a strong preference for sugary treats. As someone who prefers a more balanced flavor profile, the excessive sweetness detracted from the overall enjoyment of the donuts.

Additionally, I found the donuts at Pinkbox to be overrated, and in my opinion, a bit overpriced. While they may have gained popularity and received hype, I felt that the actual quality did not match the buzz surrounding them. The taste and texture seemed reminiscent of mass-produced or factory-made pastries rather than handcrafted treats.

Moreover, the excessive sweetness of the donuts left me feeling like I had consumed an overwhelming amount of sugar. The richness and oiliness of the donuts further contributed to the less-than-desirable experience. It's important to note that I am not diabetic, but the heaviness of the donuts left me feeling like I had consumed a cup of sugar and washed it down with a cup of oil.

In conclusion, while Pinkbox may have a friendly and patient staff, my overall experience with their offerings left much to be desired. The cappuccino was lacking, the donuts were overly sweet, and the taste and texture seemed reminiscent of factory-produced pastries. Considering the hype surrounding Pinkbox, I found it to be overrated and a little overpriced. If you have a strong preference for excessively sweet and indulgent treats, this might be the place for you. However, if you prefer a more balanced and nuanced flavor experience, you may want to explore other options...

We decided to make a pit stop here around dusk, the glitzy exterior decor with the twinkling sprinkles peaked our interest. Parking was a bit of a challenge from our entry point because of the way the lot was partitioned, the night shift staff were attentive and courteous and the place was clean. Prices varied based on the pastry. We shopped on a night with specials; order a dozen and get 20% discount.

Our order:

DARK N' SIMPLE: sugar glazed Chocolate Cake.

Raspberry Squeeze: Raspberry jam filling Raised shell rolled in sugar and filled with house made raspberry jelly.

Cranberry Cutie: Cranberry filled

John Lemon: Glazed raised shell filled with lemon filling and topped with torched lemon meringue.

El Guzman Doughcro: Croissant doughnut filled with guava and topped with a sweet cheese rosette and a dollop of guava.

Java Mama: Chocolate frosted raised shell filled with caffeinated mocha whip and topped with a mocha whip and drizzled with Nutella.

The Blow Torch: CrÚme Brûlée Glazed raised shell filled with Bavarian cream and topped with ultra-crispy caramelized sugar

Holy Cannoli: Chocolate frosted raised shell filled with chocolate chips, cannoli filling and topped with chocolate chips and powdered sugar.

Love My PB&J: Glazed raised shell filled with house made raspberry jelly and topped with creamy peanut butter, vanilla cake crumble and a drop of jelly.

Our favorites turned out to be:

El Guzman Doughcro. Loved the croissant like texture with just enough filling.

John Lemon: Harmoniously balanced

The Blow Torch: Crunchy on the outside with a tasty crÚme brûlée filling on the inside.

DARK N' SIMPLE. Moist and chocolaty.

The pastries were also good to eat the following day.

Some constructive criticism for the owners: Donuts need a lot more filling. If you want to be different, this is a good place to start.

*Love My PB&J was inedible. It tasted...

Please let me start by saying I am a big fan of Pinkbox Donuts. They are arguably the best donuts around and have always been the gold standard that I compare others to. I was ecstatic that Craig Road was getting our very own, and it had a drive-thru!

With that being said, I can’t give this location five stars, or even four. The launch of this store is just not it. Drive-thru lines take F O R E V E R. You’d think they were handcrafting each one as the order came through! I understand that it’s a new location, employees are still learning the flow of things, but good lord, the service is so slow and they’ve been out of stock of 95% of their menu. Employees aren’t able to sell shirts after a certain time (I’m trying to give you my money!) of night apparently? I tried to stay optimistic and gave them another shot tonight around midnight-ish. Should have known better, no one was in the drive thru because they were all waiting in the parking lot. I went to the window and was (very politely) told they had to switch over their system and wouldn’t be able to take orders for 10 minutes and to join the line in the parking lot.

I’d be willing to give this location another shot at a later time, but as it is right now, it’s gonna be...

4/24/24 Revisited here today early in the morning. Parking lot was neat and clean. Handicap parking and access are in front of entrance. Interior looked wonderful. Items were well displayed with titles and descriptions. Everything looked yummy. There were lots to pick from so we took our time. Karen the server was excellent, very friendly, and patient. She was very caring and placed our 6 doughnuts into two boxes instead of the standard one box so as not to mess them up. We will definitely return. -----‐------------ Visited here twice in store and drive up purchase. They were featured on a local news station for National Doughnut Day. Convenient location on West Craig in N Las Vegas. First trip was in store to check out the selections after visiting online. Drive up window is open 24 hours. The selections all look so delicious. We ordered half a dozen. My favorites are the smashing apple, mango tango, java mama, banana puding, and blue face doughcro. They are like mini cakes. Great for desserts as well. Definitely will return to try the other selections. Customer service was great, friendly and very helpful.
