I dined here about a week ago, and haven't been able to post until now. My experience at this mellow was very much less than to be desired. I often eat at the one in Myrtle but figured I'd save myself some driving time seeing as I live in NC about 40 mins away. My party of two ordered a large cheese and a personal funky Q chicken. This is our regular order at mellow mushroom. Upon placing the order for my personal Funky Q, I made sure to include my regular NO onions statement. When the pizza was brought to the table, the server slide it on the edge of the table and just walked away. Literally no communication, no "need anything?", she just walked away..... So when I retrieved my pizza from the other end of the table, I realized it had onions on it......but, I was unable to tell her due to the fact she walked away........ There were also no plates brought to the table, particularly for the cheese pie, as it was a large, and on an elevated stand. Eventually when we finally did see our server she was eating behind the counter where it gives you a view into the kitchen area. Firstly I was in shock that she was snacking in that area, but then I realized, I'm the customer and I'm not even able to eat because she decided to walk away. I could have walked up there with my pizza and interrupted her eating, but my experience at a restaurant isn't suppose to be finding my waitress and having to wait again for a pizza that should have been accurate to begin with. So, I waited on her. Finally she came back after about 10 mins and then I had to wait an additional cook time for the correct pizza. When finally getting the pizza, it was amazing, as usual. I really enjoyed it! What I didn't enjoy was the service and carelessness showed by our server. It was disheartening, as the manager of a four store company AND as someone who was waited many many tables in her day......I know that this is not how wait staff is suppose to serve their guests. To make amends, she threw in our soft drinks and gave us a 10% discount. That was appreciated! However, I don't mind spending the money. I'd rather spend extra and KNOW it's gonna be a great experience all around VS having difficulties the whole time and being discounted.... Ill be returning to this location because the food was great, I just hope the waiter/waitress I get next time, actually cares about...
Read moreWe ate at Mellow Mushroom for our grandson's birthday and it was a nice evening with just family and a few close family friends. The food definitely could have been better, but the service was actually quite good. They allowed us to bring our own birthday cake and our grandson was able to open his presents, which surprisingly isn't always an option in restaurants these days. It was a weeknight and not terribly busy, so I assume that played a part in it. The group was about 50/50 where the food was concerned. The pizza received high marks, but the "specialty sandwiches" were nothing to rave about. The burger was a typical "bar and grill burger" and the spud puppies (tater tots) were pretty bland and not really very hot when they were brought out with the burger. The pretzel bites with beer cheese were pretty tasty and the meatball trio was acceptable. One diner ordered the California Club sandwich, which was one of the smallest hoagies I've ever seen. It literally looked like someone had eaten their fill of the sandwich and a quarter of it was left on the plate! It came with a small bag of potato chips instead of the usual fries or tots that you get at most restaurants of this type. The steak and cheese hoagie was probably the least edible item that was ordered in the group. The "steak" was overcooked, dry as a bone and the cheese was barely there. The diner who ordered it had about two bites and didn't have any desire to finish it. I wish that I had better things to say about this place, but this location (at least) seemed like the kitchen staff didn't really care what they were sending out to the customers. As I mentioned before, our waitress was great (I wish I could remember her name... maybe Rachel?) and she couldn't have been more pleasant or accommodating, so she was the one bright point in an overall lackluster experience. I would give it 3 & 1/2 stars but that's not an option, so I decided to round up solely because of the service...
Read moreWe ate at Mellow Mushroom in North Myrtle Beach for dinner last night. Our previous experiences at other locations were great. Last night we waited for a table for 20 minutes but was told 45. We thought, “Great!”. A team has just left an area so they cleaned a section of it for us telling us that it was clean. A girl began cleaning another section but sat the cleaning supplies on the chair and left it there. We ordered as soon as our drinks (water) were brought to us. We waited at least an hour for our food. We saw people leaving that has been seated right before us. We walked over to the fish tank with the little one and didn’t see anyone with pizza at their tables. We saw the staff eating food and chatting while the were preparing it. No one seemed to be in a hurry to get things done. One of our pizzas was put in wrong and had to be done again. So we were done eating by the time my husband’s meal came. We were the only ones in that dining room. Another large group came to be seated. When they looked at the table, they changed their minds. I heard them say, “We waited this long for a table. It’s not ready. I have a bad feeling. Let’s just go.” The hostess was upset when she realized they left but let me tell you…it was still a disaster! The cleaning stuff was still sitting there. The hostess began “cleaning” that whole section but the chairs were still a mess with liquid on one and lots of crumbs on others (gross in fact) and not pushed in. Then we saw a group of older folks seated in the other room but where we could see them and the 2 ladies were getting out their wipes and cleaning off the chairs. The staff is nice but young. The manager really didn’t know what to say to us about the situation we had but was nice and took charges off of our bill. The pizza was yummy and the waitress was nice. But we should have ordered “to go” from our phones and skipped the...
